Default Oil cooler lines

Well I figured since it rainy out today I would tackle the oil lines attached to the oil cooler to get at the seals.
Not happening today I dont have a 27mm and a 32mm wrench for this job.
Maybe Ill try a small pipe wrench or adjustable (I have those).
Any suggestions..

Ok got lines off NO SPECIAL TOOLS REQUIRED save your money.
used a big adjustable wrench and a pipe

Front oil line can be loosened From underneath car.

This is a Turbo 944 so oil cooler is actually External at front of car.

Am I correct?

So basically what Im seeing is one oil line and one coolant line attached to this housing??

nice weekend project.

if they havent' been done, it is also a good idea to add the fuel lines to your 20+ year old 944 to-do list.

Good looking out but I'm still trying to understand if both lines attached to oil filter housing are oil or oil and coolant cuz the line that is closest to oil filter is full or coolant lol

If you mean the oil cooler housing (at the front of the car), then no...you are seeing 2 oil lines, one to take the oil to the cooler and one to take it back. Air cools the cooler itself.

Yeah I think you're right...have a look here

I think that is different from the turbo in that the oil cooler is inside the housing on the n/a, but I think the seal failure and replacement is basically the same (don't quote me on that though )

Correct, coolant and oil can mix within the oil filter housing on any of the 944 series cars when the seals/o-rings fail. If you are mixing coolant and oil, you need to replace the housing/cooler seal kit.

The oil cooler is inside that housing on an na and the coolant flows around it (water cooled). The seals inside the housing stop the water and oil mixing.

On your turbo the oil cooler is external and air cooled, but the seals are still inside the housing and perform the same function. If the seals go na or turbo you will get coolant in your oil.

Hope that makes sense. GL
