Just thought I'd let you all know. I just installed this shifter from Only944.com this afternoon, and it's pretty great. It's well-made, fits perfectly, does a great job of eliminating slop, shipping was fast, and it's inexpensive to boot.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you all know. If you've got a sloppy shifter, this is an excellent fix.

Haven't heard of that vendor yet, looks like some good products though! I will have to pick some stuff up.

I am sure it works well. I did the same thing with parts from McMaster-Carr. If you search there is a thread on here with the part numbers. It works even better with a SSK and the rod from the SSK to the trans replaced with heim joints. My shifter has absolutely not slop with this setup.

SSK? And can you elaborate on your heim joint setup?

Ahhh... ok. I guess I already have an SSK. So then the heim joint setup you're referring to is the "Part II" in the thread you linked? Seems easy enough, and probably makes a big difference.

Another satisfied customer here. I bought the hatch pin seats and shifter boot. I did a similar treatment to my own shifter with bronze shoulder bushings from Home Depot instead of bearings instead but acknowledge the superiority of the Only944 design.

I'm not sure who this Kyle guy is at Only944 is, but he has talent, enthusiasm and decent prices. Entertaining blog also. I'll be watching his site for expanded product line. Maybe worth a look. My two cents for what it is worth.

Yes, that rod is the part 2. It does make a big difference. There is no play to my shifter at all, very positive engagement. It can be done with the trans still on the car.

PS...that inner shifter boot looks interesting (since I just paid 3 times that for one from Porsche).

About to make an order from him myself...inner shift boot, hatch bushings and maybe that rear hatch seal....doing the shifter mod from the individual parts list already mentioned...

That's my plan...the short shift and trans mount from XSChop is the next big purchase...then it's time for belts/pulleys/water pump in the spring!

I have a schnell SSK. Dont like it. Shifter is offset too far towards passenger and is at max adjustment. I dont have the stock one or it would go back in.

That can be fixed with the threaded rod and heim joints in the link I posted earlier.

I just installed mine yesterday. Its my second one and they were both bad out of the box. Had to modify both in some way but I am happy now that its done.
