The closest Porsche Dealer is in Newport Beach, 10 miles north of Laguna Beach on PCH. I believe they charge $125-$150 for a PPI. Porsche Service Advisor is Rick West, good guy at Porsche Newport Beach

Address: 445 E Pacific Coast Hwy, Newport Beach, CA 92660
Phone949) 478-0590
Hours:

Thursday hours 8:30 am–9:00 pm

If you need an Indy, let me know and I can recommend a couple of good ones close by.

Good luck.

I just bought my Porsche from a Private owner there, took it by the Porsche Dealer, didn't do a full PPI: #1 the car had CPO so i wasn't too worried #2 it was a saturday- I literally just pulled up with it to the service drive of the Dealer there & asked the Service manager if he'd take a quick glance..he was very nice & did so for me @ no charge

Thanks! The guy I'm buying from used Vision Motorsports for all his work (about 25k worth of stuff) so I'm thinking of using them.

Vision Motorsport in Laguna Hills is good, the owner is Duane, a very good guy, always had a good experience with him. The one to stay away from is Hergeshiemer in Lake Forest, they are a bunch of dishonest jerks and should be avoided.

Good lucj with the PPI.

Bringing back this old thread. I'm looking at a car in the Laguna area. Vision and Hergeshiemer aren't doing PPIs currently. Irvine and Circle Porsche won't do them either.
What gives? They don't want the liability? Any other shops in the area?

I just had a PPI on a 07 C2 with 65k miles though Cape Auto in Mission Viejo. Previous owner dropped it off and picked it up so I was never on site, but they talked me through everything, answered my questions and sent me a pretty thorough list. I believe her name was Brittany, but even their receptionist was quite knowledgeable about specifics on a 997. Really they all seem to know what they were doing with 997's and pricing seemed fair. I wasn't too concerned about the cars condition, so I used it as a more as a baseline on the cars maintenance needs to negotiate with. If I was more concerned, I might have asked them to look into specific parts of the car more thoroughly and the price would surely have gone up.

For example, they didn't check the oil and filter, that would have required an oil change which isn't part of their typical PPI on a 997. Add that to the cost if you want one. Or a week later during some routine maintenance my mechanic found the coils were original, ever so slightly visibly cracked and ought to have been replaced at the 60K service. I guess the computer would tell you if there were misfires suggesting coils going bad, cape gave me a list of CPU trouble codes, nothing about misfires. But they didn't catch that they weren't more recently changed.

Don't take that the wrong way, I'm quite pleased with my experience. Just go into a PPI with some knowledge and know what your comfortable with or without.
