I got a reply from Kyle Hegg, the owner of 165101. It took 364 days since I started this thread, but we've located all nine cars!

Here's his email to me:

Hi. Paul, We've not only met, I've ridden in your car at Putnam; probably 1990-91. Riding with Burt Pharis' car, Jon Lowe's and yours prompted me to find one. Mine was the first US 1987 Escort car. It was one of two red cars, the rest were white. I have the original MSO from Porsche to Holbert Motorsport. My car was sold to a Corvette race team and spent about 2 years at the GM Tech Center in Warren MI. I have a coupe of work orders to test brake pressures etc.

It then was sold to someone who drove it out to CA and then it made it's way back to MI. Steve Williams bought it. I got it from him in March 1993. I've owned it since. I'm a member of Mid Ohio Region and have instucted DEs since 1989. My car is original save for Fabcar control arms and one or two small reversible changes. 101 has a coupe of oddities compared to the other 1987 cars. The rear spoiler is painted fibreglas and the ABS off switch is different than the rest. Probably just a parts bin issue, but it is different in a few small ways.

I go on Rennlist occasionally, but haven't noticed the Escort thread. Feel free to publish anything about the car on Rennlist. My user name is TurboCup87. It would be great if you could give us list of owners and their emails so we can correspond. Do you still work for Escort?

Great to hear from you. Kyle Hegg
