This is what everyone is waiting for. And on the 911 board as well. Tell Dean to hurry up. Hi Sam.

That is a cool setup,

let me rephrase: That is WAY cool, freaking beautiful!

It seems like info on it is pretty hard to come by. I saw a thread on pelican and 911S about it, but it seems the info posted contains alot of hearsay. Even the APV website only mentions casting the case, and custom crank, cam, and oil pump drive, with no mention of heads or cylinders (or any other internals).

Guydawger, Is there anyway you could share what you paid for that motor (so I know whether or not I should nut-punch myself) over the cost of our 1883. (I know, i know, a bit rude to ask)

For now I can only tell you what the kit costs which includes as you saw, the case, the cams, the crank and the oil pump drive. 13000.00. And I know for a fact that there is only one kit available right now and it has the 3.6 90mm head stud pattern which builds to a 2.4 to 2.7 liter. And Weber 48s are the only choice on top. The good news is that its all Porsche stuff which is the cheap stuff lol. My motor has some nice titanium rods in it as well which is sorta high on the cool list. Whats the build sheet of goodies look like on your 1883? I know my twin plug C motor thats in my 62 could buy a 10 footer 356 driver and I often think of nut punching my own self hahaha.

Our 1883 build sheet looks about like this:

LN Engineering Cylinders
LN spec. JE forged pistons
ARP hardware
Super 90 case
Super 90 crank
Nutech SX2 cam
Super 90 heads
Larger valves
Ti retainers
New valvesprings
Full flow oil conversion
EFI conversion (still in process)

Competition Engineering did all the machine work.

With yours, did the kit also include cam housings and cams? What about the cam covers? I’m assuming it uses custom machined cams as well? Is all the sheet metal custom, or did the factory stuff fit? What about the fan shroud?

Your 356 motor sounds like a good one. What size nickies did you put in. I used 92mm nickies in mine and they run super cool even in 110 degree traffic. Your build sheet looks very close to my C motor thats in my 62 B. The only thing I would reconsider if its not too late is the S90 crank which is your probable weak link. I assume you are twin plugging the heads.

The factory 911 tin fits beautifully with about 1" or so cut off each side. fan shroud from 64-87 works and the cam covers can be 1978 thru 1992 4 bearing type and just shortened to fit. The cams come with the kit. I drove an A car with this motor in it and it was the coolest car I ever had the pleasure to drive. The sound, the close ratio gearing and the ride all made for a thrilling experience. My 53 now has 911 suspension, Boxter brakes and on and on. We lack the oil lines, the custom Bursch exhaust system, foam in the fuel tank and roll cage. So close......................

We are using the 90mm, and as for the crank choice and whether or not to twin-plug, we went back and forth on it. The S90 crank was inspected, and is flawless. A benefit from EFI is that we can set a soft rev limiter where ever we want, and will limit the revs to ~6000rpm. Another benefit is the precision of spark delivery, this swayed us away from going twin-plug.

Who's fuel tank foam are you using. That is something I wanted to do, but never looked that far into it. Are there any problems with deterioration and clogging filters?

Hey Bleu,
We are going with Fuel Safe for the foam. No problems that Ive heard about as its the same stuff they use in fuel cells. you lose maybe 8-10% of your capacity but it makes the tank much safer and keeps your load steady. The twin plug really is the ideal compromise unless your only going 9.5/1 or less compression. My car is at 10.5/1 and with the Nickies and the twin plug heads runs very cool even on hot summer days in So Cal traffic. As far as a limiter goes, your motor will tell you where it wants to rev to. Sounds like your all in on this motor lol. My brother Mussberger always says, which part did you think was going to be cheap, the Porsche part or the race part?
