I need a replace a left front fender thanks to my 16 yr old. I have all the fender bolts removed (I think,) but I can't seem to get the back of the fender (drivers door side)to come loose.

I've removed the 3 bolts on the inner fenderwell behind the charcoal cannister, plus the bolt on the bottom. There's some type of seam sealer or adhseive used on the rest of the fender contact points.

there is a bolt connecting it to the nose panel, the ones along the hood line. the 3 that bold behind the charcoal cannister, and then i think one or two under the fender. now, you just gotta pull HARD.. try grabbing it from UNDER the fender and bending it UPWARD.. that seam sealant is pretty rough stuff. just gotta keep tugging..

There's a couple of bolts above the side marker light that hold the nose cover to the fender. Take out the inner feder liner. I think there's another bolt behind it toward the front of the car.

I did find and remove the bolt on the nose and the bold on the bottom heel, plus the 3 behind the cannister. Everything is loose except for the back. I can move the fender back and forth, but it still hanging there.

I think I'll follow Shaun's advice and give it a good yank. It's scrap anyway, nothing to lose.

As for my 16 year old.....I was real hesitant to let him drive it. He's a real good kid. I gave he the 30 minute lecture on what not to. I guess I missed the part about locking up the brakes on wet roads (driving in the rain was on my list of things not to do). It will be a while before he drives it again. It could have been a lot worse. No one got hurt and he drove it home.

I did the same thing when I was his age, but it was in my dad's '66 Olds, not a Porsche, so I can't yell too much. Like father,like son. hmmm...there's probably a few more things I'd better warn him about.

I have an '86 944na. I've got some replies from George at 944 Ecology, Oklahoma Foriegn Parts, Ianseuroparts, etc..

The fender runs anywhere from $200-300 plus shipping.

I'm going to try Auto Tech. They're south of Pittsburgh and within driving distance from here. Maybe I can pick one up this weekend.

I'll keep you mind though.

It really helps to take a utility knife and cut through the undercoating at the seam between the fender and body. They did stick them on good.

I was talking today with Jack at AutoTech ($175 used fender) and he said the same thing. I'm not sure why they bothered bolting them on.

At least I know what I'm getting into now.
