Still manufactured and packaged by the lowest bidder.... Hanz, the QA guy, probably had a late night prior to coming into work that day.

Those are the fuel line retaining clips that go in the inner fender well. I think they're used in a few other spots as well.

Then you haven't changed your fuel lines yet.

They were originally made of metal, at least they are on my 86. They support the fuel and brake lines going from the RH wheel well to the engine bay.

You see them when you pull the fender liner off but the ones on my '88 are white and look a bit different so I wouldn't have immediately thought of these as the same part.

Mine are metal I thought thats what they were but I was also thinking they were maybe for ABS cars or something

I believe the replacement part is made of plastic as the original one featuring the metal plate has a tendancy to rust significantly on cars that have been driven regularly in the wet.
This is why I am replacing all mine - my fuel lines are still fine but the clamps look terrible.

Well, considering certain finish touches on our cars you sometimes wonder if they were all built (too) late on friday afternoons.

Yeah, and when they mess up the packaging they're always short. Has happened to me a couple of times already when buying prepackaged hardware parts from the dealer.

I remember ordering a brand new t-belt from Porsche.

They sent me a 928 timing belt instead.

The weird thing is, the 944 part number sticker was attached to it.....

I would be willing to bet that the pick ticket was the 944 number(also a sticker on the package), but the real number was correct.
