Default Hallett Raceway near Tulsa,Oklahoma

Any users here familiar with this track near Tulsa Oklahoma?
The track can be rented for a very reasonable price. Anyone here with experiences at this track?

I have raced/DE at Hallett since it opened
PCA conducts two events a year there
A DE in May & a race in October

Fairly low speed track

Have you ever rented the track? The cost is very reasonable. I am thinking about getting 4 other drivers to rent out the track. What PCA chapter will hold the event in October?

Hallet is a great track. I've raced on it several times. It's a tight road course with some serious turns throughout. (The PCA region there used to rent it with the BMW club).

I believe the track record was held by Paul Newman for many years. Perhaps still. My best lap time back in September 1985 was 1:46:09 (with a turbo 911).

For comparison, some other figures (run c/clockwise):

M635 - 1:49:63
BMW M1 - 1:43:80
911SC - 1:43 (w/excellent driver) (1:42:00 with my car)
Camaro Z28 - 1:48:26
Toyota MR2 - 1:51:14

FTD (for that day) was 1:37:12 by a Prepared 3.0 CSL (BMW)

With a 997 these days you should be able to shave that down to about 1:20

I race at Hallett once a month. Very safe track. Lots of run off most places. Tire walls in areas without lots of runoff. Some elevation change. Mostly low/medium speed speed technical corners. One great corner complex aptly named "The Bitch" that requires "commitment" for a good lap time. It can be run both clockwise and counter-clockwise, so you can run a completely different circuit morning and afternoon.

The Stevens family owns the place and they set the tone. You won't find a more accomadating, relaxed, hassle free environment while still paying attention to safety.

I used to rent the track on occasion before buying a race car. (One of the perks of having my race car at the Hallett race shop is basically any week day that I can make it is a test day.) If you're going to have more than one car on track at a time, be sure to budget for some corner workers because there are a few blind corners.

Feel free to PM me is you want more information. Hallett's my home away from home.

This is good info to hear as I'm headed to OKC in October and knowing there is a track within reasonable distance is good! Gone will be my days of making the 45 min drive to the 'Ring...

Definitely link up with the PCA region there,--Warbonnet. They do Hallett track days, and also do them with the BMW region there.

Your drive to the Ring will be shorter than driving from OKC to Hallett (about 70 miles).

cimmaron (sp?) region is the PCA region in tulsa. They run a "mayfast" DE and an "Octoberfast" DE/Race at Hallett. Hallett has a "COMMA" series run one weekend each month with five sessions a day of "high speed touring" for street cars in between race run groups. They have instructors available as part of this. One (John Blocha) is a porsche-phile with lots of experience in rear engined cars.

My time from OKC to Tulsa has been about 56 minutes in a Porsche on the Turner Turnpike.
