I recommend 23/31 or 22/28.

23/28 combo will leave you wanting more..in the rear! I ran 23/30s and realized with a 23 up front, I really needed a 31-33 rear.

I have a used set of 21 solids cheap, and this winter will have a like new set of 23 hollow with one race on them.

I also have 27 solid and 29 hollow rears but I don't think they fit the '85.

T-bars are all the same until you get to the '87 G50 cars, right? (Memory fades on platforms you don't fiddle with anymore.) And concur about needing as big as you can put in the back; first guy who clued me in was one of the fastest POC guys 20+ years ago. I think he was 21/30 on some revalved Bilsteins and it was absolutely shocking when he let me take his car out for a few laps..........

I'll chime in too. I have run 22/28 and 23/31 on my SC. Your car is a little heavier in the rear than mine, so slightly larger bar in the rear makes sense. 22/29 or 23/33. Check the Smart Racing website for recommendations. Hawk Pelican and eBay for used bars. I've bought and sold t-bars on both.

21/30 with appropriately valved Bilsteins [Bilstein will revalve to suit your setup for around $150 per pair], a very light through-body sway bar in front [the stock front sways bind on large deflections] and the big fat Smart Racing sway in the rear. Responsive and very tuneable setup.

BTW, this was the setup on my '85 Carrera before I went over to the dark side.

I run a 33mm torsion bar in the rear of my car, which was built by Jerry Woods Enterprises/Smart Racing Products. Anything less for a track only car is too soft.

Hey guys, thanks for all the advice. I will start looking for a bigger t-bars. I should point out that this car is being built for DE and will be driven on the street as well. It sounds like everyone is saying to go with 21/30 or 23/31. Correct?

For street and DE, I would not go more than 21 / 29. Worked great on my '73 RS (close to track records at every track) till a few months ago when I put in bigger bars.

I'll clarify my statement about 30's in the rear to indicate that was as big as was available in the mid-'80's. Eric's car is a fresh build, and reflects modern thought. My suggestion, if you want to go under 30mm, is to work with someone who understands the dual purpose nature of your car, and matches everything. Seriously, CAN you go out on the track with 19/26 (e.g. stock 930) bars/matched stabilzers/matched shocks and drive it blindingly quick? Of course. There's no magic in merely "bigger is better".

22/28 is good for a dual purpose car but remember that torsion bars are expensive and a huge pain in the *** to install... so think ahead. Many people find 23/31 very tolerable for limited street driving.

My mechanic that has built MANY 911 track cars suggested to go with 22/28 and this car will still be driven on the street a good deal. I will only be doing 10-12 days a year.
