I don't remember the exact RPM limits, but there are lots of threads / posts that give the details (some I posted after I did my research). Range 1 is something like Redline to + 200 RPM or something like that. My test (like Bob's) is what the dealer's position will be regarding warranty coverage knowing the car has seen a little time over redline. If his position is "no problem, Porsche will cover it" and I get that in writing... When I purchased a CPO car it had a few Range 1 and 2. No big deal, but I had the selling dealer attach the DME readout as an exhibit to the contract. By the way, there are 3 ignitions per RPM (Boxer 6, so 2 fire at a time, 3 firings per revolution). So if it says 495 ignitions, that's only 165 revolutions. Say we're talking about 7500 Revolutions per minute, that's 125 revolutions per second. So at 165 revolutions at about 7500 RPM, we're only talking about just over 1 second that the engine spent a few hundred RPM over redline. Insignificant...
