The Vitalonis are in fact the origin of the so-called Ruf mirrors. Except Ruf did not invent them. The factory put the Vitalonis on the fixed quarter windows of the 935, Then the design evolved into some streamlining to better fit the door/window frames. Ruf indeed adopted the mirror for their creations, most famous being the Yellowbird.
One small trick: take the mirror out, buy a wide angle (convex) generic mirror from a truck parts shop and ask a glass shop to cut it the correct shape. Presto! wide angle Vitalonis, that aford a wider angle than the original flags.
