Talking Finally installed JB4 on my 718

I installed it with the wireless kit so I could change maps on the go. There are 5 maps available:

Map 0: Stock power
Map 1: 2 PSI over boost
Map 2: 3 PSI
Map 3: 4 PSI
Map 4: 5 PSI

I have a base 718 Cayman, manual with Sport Chrono and PSE. Running it on map 4 I can notice a HUGE improvement on power. I have the chance to work for Porsche so I've driven every version of the 718 extensively. I can safely say the car on map 4 is equal if not quicker than a stock Boxster GTS.

The other thing I was pleasantly surprised to notice, the car produces noticeably more burbles and backfires when running on Map 4 than it did on stock.

How long did the install take? Easily reversed?

Very easily. My shop took 1.5h but it was the first they installed on the 718, so I would bet you can get it done in an hour. The longest part was to place back all the trimming that leads to the wires on a Cayman.

He also posted this on 718Forum.com and there is much more informative information there.

If you can change the air filter, you can install the JB4. I've had it in for a few months. I'd really be interested to drive a 718 with Cobb tune. I wonder what the driving characteristics are. The JB4's power is more linear. You don't get that big punch of power like stock.

Well i just got the car 2 weeks ago, so no idea.

I had Cobb years ago on my STI but was never a big fan, and shipping the ECU was a deal breaker.

I've had JB4 on 2 cars and absolutely love it, I probably do a tune with E85 mix. I'll update once i receive the unit

If you want a discounted unit, I'm probably going to sell mine. Let me know.

Not sure at the moment. Just going to enjoy the car for awhile as is. I bought it and within 3 months spent nearly $10k on upgrades. Exhaust, wheels, tires and other interior/exterior upgrades (GT4 wing, etc.)

Ran it all summer, about to store the car for winter in a few weeks. Absolutely loving it.

Do you have an auto or a manual? How's the power delivery? Night and day difference over stock?

Stick, 2.0. Night and day indeed. I drove all versions of the 718 extensively, I can safely say it's at least as fast as an S now
