Default 718 Spyder - on the list!

After owning both previous iterations of the Spyder (and loved them), I decided to pick up the new 718. I sold my last Spyder as I wanted more of a track car. Now that I have a 9913RS, I figured 718 Spyder would be a great complement to it. My dealer confirmed they will give me one of their allocations (the joys of a good relationship with them), an I'm planning on euro delivery as that's been a lifelong dream. Now the fun of planning the options for both the car and the trip!

Who else is on the list?

I too am on the fence between the GT4 and Spyder. I've had a deposit on the GT4 at my dealer for some time now, but the Spyder has really piqued my interest. Love the lines and now that it is on a true GT chassis, it could be a real winner with the open top and new 4.0. My only issue is I already have a convertible in the garage, and its the wifes, and the wife can't drive manual that well which might make the Spyder a bit tougher of an add. Whereas the GT4 would be all mine...

My wife has a convertible, too...a BMW 135i with BMW's equivalent of 7 speed pdk. We'd have two convertibles if I got a Spyder. But I don't see that as a problem. The main problem for me is the rear quarter vision in the Spyder.

God bless,
TT

I’m on the list for the Spyder. And will also do ED.
When do shipments start, December?

I read several places that deliveries are supposed to start in the Spring.

What is the exterior color in the launch video? Is she driving a white metallic? or Chalk?

I don't think it's Chalk. Either of the whites, my guess is Carrara White Metallic.

I also just ordered (allocation) for a 718 Spyder to complement my 911S and Panamera GTS. Had an early 2016 Boxster Spyder and let it go given other convertibles I had in the garage at the time and regretted it.

Will also be Euro Delivery for me - couldn't pass up an open air NA 4.0L with 6MT mid-engine & GT3 suspension.

Yes Sir! Me too.
Too soon to plan the driving route in Europe?!

What is the break-in number of km? I haven’t had a new Porsche in 10 years...

Considering ED with a spyder as well... Luggage space is a bit of a worry given I wouldn't be traveling solo. Has anybody here tested luggage in a 718 boxster?

My 987 had tons of room for 2. The Boxster has the most luggage space, more than the 911 or Cayman. 911 may have more on paper, but it’s not as usable without a trunk or hatch.

Both my previous Spyder's had limited room under the rear hatch for a bag, but there was still room. More usable than my 911s.

But, will definitely be traveling on the light side.

Couldn't agree with the regret more. I'm glad I sold it (as I finally got the RS of my dreams), but I've always missed the usability of the Spyder. It's just a classic Porsche.

And I can't wait to get my hands on the new one!

Congrats on Euro Delivery - this is the way to do it. Break-in varies, depending on the model. With the 991.2 GT3, they recently reduced the required time and let you rev it much more out of the gate (changed from 2,000 miles below 4,200 rpm to only 930 miles below 7,000 rpm). This motor will have its own recommendation, but I think you'll be able to enjoy it rather quickly. Just plan your trip accordingly and don't arrive at the Nürburgring on the first day
