Oops washed a FOB
I never put my FOB in a pants pocket. Well almost never. The one time i do, I accidentally washed one. I have dried it out in rice, but the car no longer recognizes it.
I was hoping I could reprogram, but based on what I have read the dealer needs to reprogram. I am also wondering if the FOB itself needs to replaced?

I take you removed the battery. Let it dry for a couple of days, away from the car. The rice thing is unlike to help. Desiccant packs may help in a small container.
I inadvertently destroyed my fob (992). You don't want to know how expensive it was...

Note that your keys can’t be programmed individually. So, if you replace the ‘minty clean’ one you need to bring your other working FOB to the dealer when the replacement is programmed so that both are present. Otherwise, the one FOB that works will cease to work when the replacement is programmed.

Play dumb and tell the dealer it stopped working and see what they say. Sometimes moisture can get into them from a bad seal and they will probably replace it no questions asked, if the car is under warranty.

I recently replaced a Taycan key fob and it was $570. It got run over so I could not make a warranty claim.

replacement FOB is part number 991-637-954-03 and goes for $298 at sunset (list $390). Plus you would have the labor to program to the car.
