New Production Delay
A buddy of mine was all set to take an allocation for a Cayman T (with a June freeze date and late August deliver) when the dealer said it was cancelled by PNA, and that there would be no new allocations for any 718 model (except perhaps a Boxster 25th anniversary) until September or October. Any confirmation would be appreciated.

I would not be surprised that 2021 is over and the next allocations will be 2022s.

My 2021 so far hasn't been cancelled or reassigned. However, it has been pushed back about a month.
Now supposed to enter the body shop 6/18/21 and be completed 6/25/21.
Previously was 5/28/21 and 6/11/21.
Although I wouldn't be upset if it got moved to a 2022 model. It would be changed to shark blue for sure!

This was an MY 2022 allocation. It was pulled back by the factory because of a lack of production capacity. The salesman said it is parts-related. He suspects it relates to the chip shortage, but he wasn't told that was the reason.

Bummer. Had your buddy already officially secured this allocation before it was pulled back, or had he not yet put a deposit down? Just curious if Porsche ever pulls an allocation once a customer has money down and it has officially been assigned to them with a commission number, v200 delivery date, etc.

Given that it’s May, considering the August break, and how Porsche releases allocations this is a fair assessment. Expect some Sept/Oct allocation in the next month…that’s my experience from last year and my Sept 2021 Build.

At least you're not in this position: Latest issue of Consumer Reports: Guy ordered and paid for a new Vette, Thanksgiving 2019. He STILL doesn't have the car.

I have heard so much about the poor quality and bad dealers with a Corvette from Porsche owners, not from C8 Corvette owners.....
Did I miss the rash of bad C8 engines and the factory dragging their feet on a fix?

Having owned both (2002 Boxster, and 2008 C6 corvette) I can tell you this: There's mostly really good Porsche dealers, service is almost always impeccable. There's lots of trashy Chevy dealers, but you can definitely cut a very cheap deal on a 'vette (Pre-covid) where you would be lucky to pull 6% off on a P-Car. There's good deals to be had on Corvettes (again, pre-covid) if you hang in their forums, there's certain dealers that will do a factory order for almost no markup. They're both fun, not even comparable, but then, I loved our old VW bus, and have no issues with Miatas.

My SA says computer chip shortage pushed my Boxster 25 allocation out until Sept delivery. Good news it will therefore be a 2022.

Local Porsche GM contacted me and told me he still had no allocations for a GTS 4.0 but that he did get a Spyder allocation if I was interested. Told him no, but at least allocations are still happening, chip shortage and all.
