What is the minimum system requirements of the laptop that is needed to do the remote activation? I have an older laptop that I would like to use for this purpose. Thanks

Is there ability to revert back to factory programming (remove Android auto) later in case there is a need to make a warranty claim on the hardware at Porsche dealership?

Yes, we will support all customers' remote activation again for free within 12 months in case your CP AA is removed by a local dealership.
For all PCM4 MHI2 and PCM5 MH2p jobs we have done with CP AA activation, we will support our customers revert back to the factory status or activate again for free within 12months.

Lowbee,

Did you get PCMGEEKS to install AA on your Porsche?

Thank you

Not yet, I am still waiting for my car. Should be here in June 🤞 but I stumbled into something new and it sounded too good to be true, see link below.

The product claim to convert OEM Carplay into wireless AA or wireless Carplay just by plugging in the dongle

I am using a similar product in my DD and it works great! Only downside is that you do have to have factory Carplay...

Yes, but how would it unlock the features, don't really understand how this would work, will have to call. This link was as well on Rennlist.

https://www.ottocast.com/en-ca/produ...e#contact_form

He used it on his Lexus, but then said that if his Porsche had Apple Car play he would use it on his GT4, which made me wonder if it needs to be installed first and working. Or does the module you purchase have ACP and/or AA already installed and connects wirelessly.

A bit confusing.

I believe that the Ottocast unit is only an interface. -it doesn't have ACP or AA installed on it. Therefore, you need to first have Apple Carplay on your car. I have ACP in my Lexus, and using this device, I can use my Android to connect via AA. My Spyder doesn't have ACP.....if it did, I would buy another one of these devices for it, rather than have a 3rd party access the PCM to enable AA.

Hope that clears it up for you.

I got mine unlocked by a different guy I found in 718forum.com:

simaservis1108

Same process, same result. Works just fine. I primarily use it when traveling since I like the Google Maps integration but the rest of the time, I just connect audio via Bluetooth. One thing is that whoever you go with, you're going to be using a laptop and giving them access to it so my advice is to use an old laptop that has been factory reset and has nothing on it besides the OS. Sima was a pro and very professional and I was comfortable with him but it's just smart to also be safe.

Thread bump - anyone seen this or something similar?

https://www.pairr.co/products/adapter-aa

Promises wireless Android Auto with simple pairing process for $149. Looks like company based in Lithuania. It came across my Instagram feed and it doesn't look like they've been around long, so my Boomer eyebrows are raised. Whaddya think?

Maybe I’m misunderstanding but why wouldn’t you get a Carlin kit?
