Default Oh boy, new summer tires....

My car had worn tires when I bought it, my bad, should have had them do all four new, one of the rears was more worn than the other. So I have the wheels off, washed, waxed, in the trunk of the M5 with the new tires in the back heading to Porsche dealer for mount and balance on Monday. Should be good to drive this thing with new tires. The service department called me on Saturday to reschedule because of the expected snow! He said he figured I would not want to drive the Boxster in the snow LOL. I told him about my plan. So that was an interesting show of service! Was happy to get such a call out of the blue.

Mike

Sticking with the same Michelins. I bought them last summer (just the rears are due) as one tire was pretty worn when I got the car. I foolishly did not insist on all new tires when I got the car.

Heading up today to get them mounted and balanced.

I did the Air Filter yesterday. That was fun.

Mount and Balance two wheels $86. Not bad......

At Porsche Dealership. Very nice service department. They have this $17,000 coffee machine too. LOL.

What would have been more useful is if they had a $17K (?) Hunter Road Force balancer; do they? I've found an almost-local (= halfhour away from the house) wheel & tire retailer...
https://www.elementwheels.com/
...that does a fabulous job at ALL aspects of tire mounting, including measuring that the mounted tire is NOT out-of-round.. When I had them mount MY new tires on MY Cayenne, the fee was $35 per tire..Two of the 4 had to have the tires rotated 180 degrees on the wheels to pass the machine's 'Road Force' ( = out-of-round) tolerances.. The resulting ride is VERY smooth...as smooth as I've ever experienced with new tires.

Why all the BOLD yelling?

Do you not think a Porsche dealer can’t adequately install tires?

They probably do have a Hunter balancer..... I have never seen a dealer not have Hunter equipment where I am and I am in and out of dealers often enough (friends, family, work). If they don't have one they have something similar or better. The cost of tire machines is nothing to a shop the size of your standard dealership.

I like Hunter stuff cuz it's what I've used most of my life to do my own tires, but other stuff works fine too.

https://www.hunter.com/oem-partners/ It seems reasonable that all Porsche dealers would have hunter equipment in their bays given the partnership with Hunter.
