Default What seats are everyone getting and why?

Struggling with this one for my Spyder build.
I think the sport seats are probably just fine (not sure I see the benefit of bucket seats on the spyder, but I've also never sat in them).

Are the 18 way adaptive sport seats worth the upgrade over the 2 way?

I'm about 5'9" so my only concern is if it will be beneficial to have the option of adaptive seats than can be raised a bit if needed, not to mention they will likely have a benefit if/when I sell the car.

Would love to hear what seats people are getting and the reasons.

getting LWB's in my 718 Spyder...had them on my GT4, GT3 and GT3RS...personally, I wouldn't order a "GT" car without them ....just watch the AP interview with Catchpole...that is his "must have" option

I contemplated the LWBS, but in the end I decided on the 2-way sport seats plus. Still reasonably lightweight, still plenty supportive, more comfortable on long drives, no squeaking/creaking when I lean on them (unlike LWBS), and better for my elderly mother who likes to go out with me on drives sometimes.

You didn't feel there was any real advantage/comfort upgrade to getting the 18 way adaptive seats for your mom?

This is a very personal thing and I wouldn't give a lot of weight to AP advice unless resale value, track use and sale potential is at the top of your list.
I also recommend that you find a car with LWBS and try them....they may not be your cup of tea or find them uncomfortable.
My 981 GT4 was spec with Sport 2-way and I find them they do the job and you save some $$$ on your build. They are wife-friendly also and even do a decent job at the track.
The LWBS are great and look gorgeous, really nice compromise for those that go often to the track and my next 718 GT4 will have LWBS as the balance has tilted more towards track use.
So how about the 18-way adaptive? Not sure on those and IMO I would choose either 2-way or the LWBS, unless you don't want LWBS and do need all those adjustments. just my $0.02.

Likely no track time in the Spyder-- maybe AutoX, but doubt it. I have the shelby GT350 for occasional track weekends.
I may do some long drives with the Spyder after I move (Vegas-->LA for example).

Resale is important, but not enough so where I think getting LWBS are worth the extra $6k. The question is whether 18 ways matter over the 2 ways for resale. I think they will be fine for my driving needs, as long as I don't need to raise the seats for anything.......that's the main question.

I don't think 2-way vs 18-way will be a major issue for resale....as a matter of fact they both look basically the same and most people will go for the lower price that you will be able to offer with 2-way.
With the 2-way you can raise the seat manually......so that adjustment is cover.

They’re the same seats, just without the power adjustment. 2 way is lighter and simpler. Only comfort difference is the lack of inflatable lumbar and side support, though the padding on the 2-way sport seats plus seems fine to me. My mom is OK with the 2-way basic Sport Seats (non-plus) on my 987 Boxster, so she should be fine with the 2 way Sport Seats Plus too.

Just to be clear: the “2-way” seats are really 8-way, with 2-way power back rest. The forward/backward, seat height, and seat angle are all manually adjustable.

I forget the exact numbers, but I remember reading that the 18 way seats weigh around 25 lbs each more than the 2 way. For a car focused on light weight (to the extreme of a manually operated roof and cloth straps for door handles), it didn’t make sense to me to spend $3k extra for seats that increase weight by 50 lbs, and also increase complexity, for only a minor improvement in comfort.

Heated seats are the only thing keeping me from the buckets. I live in a colder climate and I just feel that I will enjoy the car more with seat heaters. I would only consider the 2-way seats or full buckets. 18-way adjustment seems overkill for me in this type of car.

LWB - have them on GT3 - not loving them
Going for 2 ways w. heat, 18 ways overkill, heavy and $$

Makes sense-- this has been helpful. I'm eliminating the 18 way seats and getting the 2 way option.

The buckets are going to be too low for me (don't think I'm going to like them) and they won't be as comfortable for longer drives I plan to make.

As an aside, my favorite seats I've had in any car I've owned are the Recaros in my '19 Shelby GT350. Surprisingly comfortable.

Agree! I had a 2017 GT350 with Recaros and they were really comfortable on long drives (road trip from Montreal to Boston to see the Sox… stopped for gas… no complaint on comfort). Plus great support on track days!

Will probably go for LWBS in GT4 since it's going to be a track car, but need to sit in them first.

My choice is driven by garage width, with my wife's wide, wide, wide 2020 Ford Exploder next to the Spyder, I need the lower leading seat edge of the 2 way to get in and out comfortably. The LWB's just won't work and the 18 ways are only a hair better given that high entry edge.
