718 GT4/Spyder Aftermarket Exhaust
#16
The 4-cilinder sounds particularly nasty at low revs... My friend has a 718 Boxster.
To be honest, I am not a great fan of "loud" exhausts. I see a lot of youtube stuff with ridiculous amounts of cracks and pops. The 981 GT4 was tiresome after more than a hour (I hired one for 24 hours and did 1000 km with it). Hence I am not so sure the 718 Spyder will be to silent fo my liking. But I reckon the recent GT3 engine is the ultimate sound machine. We will see! And hear...

Repeating the post from 981 GT4 forum:
I've reached out to my Service Adviser to get some clarity, since we've had a few 992s received. Here is the exchange:
My question:
now that you have got a few 992s on the ground, would you be able to check with your techs and confirm if they have Particulate Filter (PF)?
His response:
They do not. It is Canada spec for those exhaust PF.
follow-up question:
are you saying US-spec cars don't have PF, but Canadian cars do? if so, what kind of device they have in place of PF?
His response:
That is correct. We just have pipe in its place. Think of it like the Diesel exhaust systems in the US that has a PF inline. Ours is just without it.
So, 992s don't have it. Chances are, GT4/Spyder wouldn't have either. Sounds like (pun unintended!), not even an inert device. So, we should be good then. However, it is odd that we never seemed to have heard a single US-spec car! Is it because Porsche tries too hard to soften blow to the markets that receive PF? We'll know in a few months.

^The_Rider. Thanks for taking the time to look into this. I hope everything your SA said is correct.
I was a bit worried that the 718 GT4 won't sound the part. The car will be at the LA auto show.
Maybe I can get on the ground and take a look. If its a US spec car. How will I know? Vin ,maybe?

So from what I understand GPF in Canada and no GPF in US? weird! Arent California Emissions rules stricter than Canadian ones?

This is not what I was told.
No GPF for Canada & US markets.

We’re starting to release our 718 GT4 / Spyder exhaust products from the end of this week starting with our Titanium Valved Rear Silencer replacement
We will be releasing a lot of products for this platform and I’ll be sure to start a dedicated thread as soon as we release
We already have the OPF delete taken care of, we’re the first and only to offer products for the new OPF GT3 RS / Speedster so we’re ahead of the curve on these new cars
Any / All Questions welcomed but in the mean time here’s a sneak peek!

great news can’t wait. hopefully it’s not too expensive.
i have an allocation and my biggest concern coming from a 991.1 gts is the sound. Not sold on the stock sound of the euro cars.
hopefully between the lack of opf and your product the car can sound like it should!
