^ Love this.

If I had to get down to just one two-seat Porsche to drive into the sunset, it might just be a 718 Spyder 6MT + gears + exhaust. It's everything I need in a fun street car, and nothing I don't—though a little tailoring never hurts.

I do believe that "test mule" and/or its driver was accepted for Rare Shades 5, and I did get a good giggle out of those precisely placed door numbers.

they were perfect before the tests - going so fast the numbers slid!

Yeah, just to follow-up on my comment.

A MSRP 000 PTS build in the $160K range ok...my comment was on the $220 ask.

I do think it was a great initiative...well done.

Just want to chime in and say thank you as well! This is the most beautiful car I've ever had. Although it is not 100% your original 000 spec, it did open the door for Porsche to accept my wishes in a much smoother way I can't imagine any individual can do a CXX close to this without your effort, thank you!

  • We preferred the look of the LEDs and thus incorporated them in the "basis" build for the 000 Package.
  • After a number of 000 Package cars had been built with LEDs, we received an email from Exclusive asking whether we wanted to block the build of cars with the 000 Package due to a supply chain problem with LED lights.
  • Our viewpoint: Better to see happy customers with cars than unhappy customers with no cars. In other words: Let the customer decide.
I've seen conflicting info re: whether or not LEDs can be retrofitted, but the fact that customers were not deterred by the standard headlights on new builds suggests customers on the secondary market may not be.

^ Good info and yes, this is going to be a personal choice that will or won't compute. My own version was a 991.2 Carrera with PTS, PCCB, etc etc at 991.2 GTS money. You can be sure I checked my head several times, mainly checking to see if there was a hole in it. Six years later, I couldn't be happier with my choice. Sometimes, you just like what you like—and the utility gained from a car you like exceeds the utility gained from an "it car."

718 Spyder RS very appealing for all the obvious reasons—but some don't need 500hp, some might prefer the Spyder's aesthetics, some are "no stick no sale," etc. To each their own…the point of 000 Package was to add something to the story of the 718 Spyder, even if quietly. It ended up innovating processes that will carry forward to the benefit of many.

We received final confirmation and permission to communicate the number: 39 cars were delivered worldwide. Not bad for an "off the menu" offering with little to no marketing; the internal goal was 5 cars.

Thanks, and don't disagree re: the delta standing out. But we didn't go in thinking about price to second customers, only the first. And still there were plenty of unknowns. Would anyone order the 000 package given it added some 50-62% to the MSRP of a 718, not to mention the lack of corporate marketing muscle? And would those who ordered one lose big $ on their way out? Unknowable going in, but the first three that sold used on BaT at $180-200k offered indicators, and it was nice to see those customers didn't get punished for ordering such an expensive upgrade on a 718 Spyder. Personally, my take is those sales said something about the market's view of the 718 Spyder itself.

As for the delta you mention, consider the delta of some modern GT cars in PTS @ $180-300k new that are now going for $500k or $1M. Or more. And the back story often stops with…PTS.

I can say that several meetings were focused on keeping the 000 Package price from getting (further!) out of hand while achieving the interior we were after: RaceTex delete > black aluminum trim > all black steering wheel spokes > special leather). Sounds easy. It wasn't, but the Exclusive team was patient with us and came up with one great solution after the next.

You are welcome! But I should say: There are many more to thank—both those directly involved in the process but also all those who read 000 and otherwise support 000, as they paid for the research, testing, and various initiatives that drive the events, motorsport programs, and other projects that led to the 000 Package…not to mention (hopefully useful) info shared here on Rennlist. So if you see someone with a 000 plate frame, hat, or sticker, know that they helped open the door for you too.

I was delighted with your Spyder build, and your order confirmed something the Exclusive team predicted—that processes and offerings developed for the CXX 000 Package could smooth builds for other customers. So while your car might not be one of the 39 cars, it definitely has a connection to them. Do let me know if we're ever in same place, same time—or if you find yourself near the Golden Gate. Would love to check out your car!
