Default Lateral Acceleration on the track

What maximal lateral acceleration figures are you guys seeing on the track in your 718 GT4/Spyder?
I'm getting 1.3 left and right, and 1.2 braking.
My setup is newish Cup 2s with standard alignment (literally just got the car, had two trackdays).
The reason I ask is because I think I should be cornering faster, I have some sort of mental block going on, but can't bring myself to push harder for some reason. I drove a 993 for years and think the GT4 is going to swap ends on me in a flash like the old car used to...
Please specify your tires and alignment, and other aftermarket bits in your response!

My Spyder came with the Dunlops and I'm very pleased with them. The Max G-forces reported in the Porsche software shows, 1.26 braking, .8 acceleration and lateral at 1.30 and 1.63 at COTA.
Swapping ends has never felt like a threat.
I have a hybrid street track alignment, street biased and Tarret rear toe links.

GTS 4.0 - PS4S tires, Ferodo DS2500 front pads, akra OAP's, stock alignment
Been to Lime Rock, Monticello Motor Club (MMC), and Pocono Full North South course before the season closed
.83 on acceleration
1.33 Braking
1.43 lateral and 1.45 for other lateral (these were at MMC)- I am new to the track so I slightly improved the lateral numbers with every session.

I am hoping to get better numbers once I get off my PS4S street tires and mount my Goodyear Supecar 3's next year. They are all ready to go!!! - Basically I got the car in August - got break in over with and tracked it 3 times as quick as possible late season.

Also - I did achieve a 1.6 lateral but it was from a violent induced power slide I tried to do on the track - I promptly reset it to see the real G's I could pull lol

Lateral G s on the track are highly dependent on the track surface and the amount of banking in the corner. I've seen 1.8 in my data @ T6 at WGI. All other corners are less.

my experience after driving 911's. for about 20+ years (964, 993, 996, 997, 991) is that the 718 Spyder platform does not have the same levels of grip in corners (particularly from apex to exit)

I (along with others) will recommend swapping out the rear toe arms for the TPC offset links... DSC PASM controller will also help ... I have the TPC road/track alignment specs

I'd also recommend picking up a Garmin Catalyst as it can suggest improvements in line, braking etc

I got the Tarett rear-toe links and a hybrid street/track alignment yesterday on my new GT4. -2.3 F, -1.8R on the camber and slight toe in in the front and 2mm per side toe in on the rear.

Here was the result from doing some testing last night in 55 degree weather on my local on/off ramps with the stock Cup 2 tires.

I am adding the front thrust arm bushings next as my front caster is now at like 10.1 and it just doesn't feel good to me compared to stock for on center feel.

In corners with compression (rising vertically), you can achieve much higher numbers. Comparing lateral acceleration only really makes sense when comparing on same corner (due to this and other variables already mentioned like tarmac and tires).

Yep, agreed .

My comparison was the same on/off ramps compared to the SS 1LE.

Ignore the peak G’s. Alignment and tires aren't really a part of your problem either IMO. You should be able to know if you’re on the edge of grip or not and based on what you said I’d say you’re not close to it and could definitely use some help with your problem mo. The car is setup to understeer so we’re not working with a car problem here so with it being just a driver problem it’s usually a problem that is not difficult to solve. Even if the car was setup to crash from oversteer we could still overcome it with driver skills (basically I know I can race with wider BFG R1 slicks upfront than old worn out heat cycled out skinnier toyo R888s on the back of a rwd car without spinning out. My co driver drove that for 2 hours without one mistake even though the car was begging to kick out and spin every corner. I then drove that to finish the race for another hour and a half and didn't make a mistake myself either. We were both driving on the edge of what was possible for grip the entire time and constantly catching the car from spinning).

If you want help analyzing your driving and have a video I can do that. The video would be useful for seeing any bad habits you have that could cause a spin (usually people have lots). If you don’t have a video I can go over the common bad habits people have that end in them spinning out. Post it here or take it to pms if you’re more comfortable with that.

Then with bad habits solved you would just need to learn how to balance grip front to back and how to cancel a spin before it happens, and eventually turning that into a reflex you don’t even think about. That’s easy to explain and actually easier to do than eliminating bad habits. When I instruct this almost always takes less than a day on track to solve to the point where the student is mostly cured of bad habits and can consistently catch the car when it is about to spin, usually with very little theatrics. bad habits may surface again but as long as the student remembers and keeps coming back to the lesson it should be a permanent fix eventually.

Whatever mental block you have to push it to the edge of grip should go away with those problems solved. It’ll be a lot of explaining and a big wall of text so if you want some instruction let me know, if not that’s cool too.

Testing out the CGTS 4.0 on the nearby on/off ramps. The mechanical grip and rotation on center (even with stock Pirelli rubber) is nothing short of impressive. The chassis will "pump" before losing grip, incredible.

Do the results stay displayed for a period of time? I have never played with it before but I will!

The max values stay until you delete them, AFAIK. Press the button once you rotate to the G window and the max values pop up. Just be sure to use the back arrow vs. pushing the button again, or you will delete the max values back to zero. Ask me how I know...
