Agreed without sound its numbing, however, if you're driving it'll still be good.

Damn! Can't believe it actually beat a GT3 cup! 47.44 (GT3 Cup) vs 45.50 (GT4 ePerformance) Though the GT3 sounds like a pure beast

I'll be watching old 12hr and 24hr endurance races...because, what will happen to them in an all-electric world? Not sure even solid state batteries will be able to continue the experience. Hoping Ricardo can make "quick-release batteries" to keep pit stops short.

Yes but to win by only 2 seconds, it required over twice the power and triple the torque of the Cup (only available briefly in Qualifying mode) and twice the driven axles...

Although electric in nature, is this really a more efficient use of power (has to come from somewhere)?

2 seconds on a sub 1 minute track is massive, if we're talking Ring times then this car was 12-14seconds faster basically than the GT3 cup car.

OK, I'll accept that (assuming that the battery and heat resisting ability can last for a full lap or more of the Ring in Quali mode).

But in its race mode (only 30 minute range) the GT4e requires over 100hp more, twice the torque, and twice the driven axles for the same lap time as GT3 Cup (per article above - I'm inferring the torque from the large electric hp)...

It is quite a short course given the laptime. Electric cars are quite heavier due to batteries. This is the beginning of electric race cars, I’m sure in a decade they will be a lot quicker and lighter. I love ICE’s, don’t get me wrong. But in reality we won’t be able to sustain it for too long unfortunately and rather than not having any motorsports in the future I’d rather have electric racing cars

The other thing that we have to keep in mind when comparing electric and ICE powered endurance race cars is that an ICE racer gets lighter and faster over its run as it burns fuel (not taking into account tire degradation), while an electric car gets slower as its charge is depleted, heat rises, and the voltage of the battery pack sags.

If we're talking Ring Times, it would have to pit every 2 laps, while being 12-14 seconds faster.

Firstly, I wanted to post the same link, so thank you OP for doing it!

This car seems like it's very fun to drive and I love the rear light treatment, blue mostly and then red when braking. I don't know how entertaining the races with EVs will be in the future, but I also very much don't mind getting a GT4 as an EV, if the road car version approaches anything close to what it was displayed at Goodwood.

I tend to agree, racing is racing. Some just want to go fast.

It sounds like a subway train. I’m glad I’ve got my 8200 RPM 4 L wailer with a manual transmission. I couldn’t care less that it’s quicker.
