I used to have a 987.1 Cayman S and was wondering if the filter wrench would also work the the 718 GT4. Spec-wise they seem to be the same. They are both 74mm and 14 flute. I'm a little concerned with the depth. though The 987.1 wrench is ~1.5 inches tall. Is there enough room to work that into the GT4 oil filter? And anytime I look up either wrench, they don't mention that they are compatible with the other vehicle.




I don't want to take everything apart and find out I have the wrong wrench. Any thoughts?

The wrench I use for my 996 GT3 works for my 718 GT4. The actual filters are different, but size and shape of the housing cover is the same. Looks like your wrench should work.

74/14 is correct so I think so, but hard to guarantee.

Why not buy one that says it will work with the 718 (Hazet 2169), try the one you already have and return the “new” one unused? Either way you won’t have taken the car apart for nothing.

Thank you for the advice. i guess if I were to get another one, I would probably go with the shallower 2169-10.

Thanks! I'm guessing since the HAZET 2169 works, my old one should work as well....hopefully. Again, I was more worried about height and maneuvering than i was diameter.
