Default why so many gt4 for sale compared to gts?

doing a 500 mile search on cars.com i see 16 GT4 vs only 4 GTS for sale. i've noticed that there are quite a few more GT4's for sale vs GTS.. i've always thought that the GT cars were special and limited production. I've also noticed the same thing with the 992 GT3; tons of them for sale with minimal miles but very little S/GTS for sale. is this normal?

Guys,

I think that some of this actually depends on where we live as well as where we drive and also do we TRACK the GT4.

Thankfully where I live the GT4's suspension is of No-Concern at all.

Just as a mention I drove my GT4 to San Antonio and LaVernia, Texas back in May of 2022.
I drove each direction in 1-day !!!
The round trip was approximately 2,141 miles.
I should add that I was 77-years old when I made that round-trip.

If there was not constant (Construction) going and coming it would have been a heck of a lot more pleasant round-trip.

I am actually pleased with the suspension on my 2021 Cayman 718 GT4.
No-Complaints for a Porsche GT Track designed GT4 that I drive on the street.

Mine sitting in the driveway of one of the brothers I drove to Texas to visit with.
Sadly, Tom Cochran recently passed away so I'm glad I got off my butt and drove down to see him and his brother Cal.
Both brothers got to take the GT4 out on country roads and drive it anyway they saw fit.
They both Really-really liked it and loved getting to drive it together !!!

Below is Tom that recently passed away we were buddies for like 16-years ...................
Tom was 82-years old when he passed away.

My guess is because the GTS is the more daily-able version. While you can daily a GT4 (i did with mine), most people will buy a GT4 as the second weekend car rather than the primary car. When times get tough it's usually the second car thats the first to go. With more people buying the GTS as the main car (not that people dont buy the GTS as the second car, just more compared to the GT4), people are willing to keep it around as its still comfy, great as a daily and relatively practical assuming you dont have to worry about kids.

Just my guess

More 718 GT4s were sold than GTS models so far. (Same with recent 911 GT3 Vs GTS numbers)

There's more GT4RS (25+) than GTS 4.0 (10) Caymans on the Porsche US new+used inventory for sale too!

Nobody really knows. The only true/real answer is to poll every single buyer on their motives.

Guess away....

i think many people bought the GT4RS to flip for a profit. I've also noticed more RS for sale than the GTS

The GTS shares the market with the S which is essentially the same so my thinking is a lot of people end up buying the S and base so not many GTS as not really any improvement. Next step up is really GT4 or Spyder.

I think it's safe to assume a fair number of GT4 owners moved on to the GT4RS. GTS owners generally didn't want a track focused car to begin with so they are less tempted by the GT4RS.

As for the GT3... my guess, and it is just a guess, is that many bought them just to flip. This could apply to the GT4 as well.

Its the commodification of GT cars, they(GT cars) are bought as trading vehicle to make money or as a store of value instead of a vehicle to put a smile on your face. If you look at BaT( the marketplace) the price of GT4s have been dropping, the commodity buyers who own GT4s are seeing the trend go down and they are selling the trend. Straight up momentum trade. look for GT3 to be next. Porsche will have to increase 911 and ICE 718s production more to make themselves whole for their hit to residual value on their EV leases, Revision to mean is coming to GT cars depreciation. Sports cars are intended to put smiles on peoples faces not to be traded like a commodity. It’s sad that parasites were front running demand for cars, concert tickets etc, to make a couple bucks and deprive real customers of their hard earned money in unnecessary markups. The commodity purchasers will be the bag holder. If you buy a car for pleasure you don't care if it depreciates, this is normal for cars. iIs the liquidity flow from the $$$ traders that distorted the porsche ice sports car market, but the store of value or fast money traders will be fast to sell in a downward market. or as new supply eventually catches up with demand. Porsche will always make new GT supply!!!

Because they are ridden hard, put away wet and then put up for sale for the next sucker. hahaha.
I am guessing (as a Boxster 25 owner) that GT4s and GT3s sound very nice in theory but probably are a bit much as daily drivers if they are not track cars. Of course someone will chime in and correct me that they drive their GT4 or GT3 everyday and get groceries in it.

Sheesh, so many assumptions and leaping to conclusions.

Simple fact is more GT4s have been produced than GTS. Porsche’s only goal is to maximize profits. And GT4s bring in more than GTS.

I am one of those people that 100% daily drove my GT4. I'll be honest, i think it was fine. However i also daily drove a track modded S2000 for 2 years and so the GT4 was not nearly as uncomfortable. If anything it was really comfortable.

That being said there were times that i did wish i was in a GTS for ease. Getting in and out was a bit of a pain in tight spots especially since i had the bucket seats. I'm a very thin guy so it was fine for me, but i cant imagine how bigger people do it.

That's an honest response. I am old at almost 63 and can't use my Boxster 25 as a daily driver. I used to drive my 991.2 C4S manual in NH as my only car but even in a 911, I got tired of the hwy noise. Snow tires and all. can't imagine driving a GT4 daily. Maybe I could do it in C4S PDK but now I just use my Boxster for recreation rather than trying to cram it into all auto-related duties. GTS would work very well for you.
