baby oil on our paint
has anybody ever used baby oil on our p cars paint? i have been using it and there seems to be no problems so far and the paint loks "healthier" not to mention that it clears up all the tar and bad gunk from the road... experiences?

I am pro life. I would never use oil made from babies on a car. You guys that do are sick.

Why would you do this instead of washing your car with soap? It's likely that the "healthier" effect you see is a result of the oil filling in all the surface defects, and making the contaminants in your paint less noticeable to the touch. You can polish your paint down to correct minor defects, and you can seal your paint with a surface protectant such as wax, but don't think for a moment that baby oil or any other product nourishes or improves the quality of your paint. In the case of baby oil, I'd guess all you're doing is leaving slime on your car that will wear off faster than traditional waxes, and may contain chemicals that are harmful to the finish.
If you want to shine your car quickly, buy a bottle of quick detailer and some microfiber towels. You can spray 'n' wipe just as easily as baby oil and QD has the benefit of being designed specifically for the application it's used for. No more tears, please.

No harm in using it to remove road tar but you should wipe it off with a detail spray or wash the car afterwards. If you don't wipe it down it will attract dirt/dust and make future cleaning more difficult.

I would keep all aliphatics away from paint. They will damage the paint on your car, whether interior or exterior painted areas. Use only products designed to remove foreign matter from your paint.

you got it mike the name's slicky... hahaha. next on my list is to make another baby and buy a gt3 rs just to try out winkingchef's great idea...
well reason why i used baby oil to remove tar was i got a few old bottles of the stuff and did not know what to do with them, i tried removing asphalt that got thrown on the paint and it seemed to do quite a good job at it. at least now i dont have to waste the stuff and pollute the environment by throwing it down the sewage.. thats Porsche Intelligent Performance for everyone. i hope dan's right that idont damage the paint before i finish the old stuff.
