Default Deleting vs. Removing Model Designation

When ordering I discussed with the dealer the option of having the Cayenne left off. He said I could do that or have it removed after it arives.

The question I have is, if I have the factory delete the model designation will the PORSCHE be placed in the same position as it will be if I have the dealer remove the Cayenne after delivery?

The Porsche logo will be centered If you have the model designation delete.
Check the 3D configurator at the Porsche website.

I think PORSCHE is placed in the same position either way. I removed the model designation myself, below is a pic. Looks pretty centered on mine.

I had asked the same question when ordering mine. No one seems to be 100% sure but it sounds like they may move it down a few mm's.

I went ahead and ordered with model designation deleted. Go for it! Much cleaner IMO.

Good luck!

I figured on removing it after it arrived, that way when I sell the car if someone wanted it on I could just give it to them and they could put it back in place. I then started thinking that the PORSCHE may not end up centered that way. Looks like it would be pretty much in the same spot either way. Does anyone know for sure?

easier to delete, it's placed on the fresh paint.. so sometimes the paint comes up with the adhesive in spots, even when using thin floss and a heat gun, and the glue is a pain to get up...

its free to delete, i like mine without it.

You're one of those... Anyone who knows anything about the car can easily tell the model by the calipers or front end. And if they don't, seeing the badge on the back won't mean anything anyway.

Keep the model on the back if you like it, delete/remove it if you prefer the look without it. I personally prefer the simpler look after seeing many pics of the 2011s without the model designation, therefore chose to remove it after the fact.

side note:

the delete made my PORSCHE, lower... just noticed today, looks lower than the guy above.

as far as "base" models.. if you know there is a diff in cayenne's im pretty sure they also know about the brakes... or the front side vents (ironic however, painted side vents on S=1120$, painted side vents on base=free)

i deleted mine not because it is a base but because it was a lot going on back there, even on my carrera i removed it for "911".. deleting everything looks bare imo.

Riley- do you have a close up shot of the back of your Cayenne, given you had the model delete in your build? I was trying to compare mine to one of w00t's pics, but wasn't able to see the difference.

Called the dealer today, I'm past the point where I can make any changes. Looks like I'll just have to have it removed when it arrives.

I'm sure the dealer will do it for you free of charge. If not, it's really easy to do on your own. I used a blow dryer to heat the badge, dental floss (fishing line would be better) to get behind it, then a little wd-40 to remove the remaining adhesive. Probably took me a total of 20 mins.

i like floss better, the fishing line scores the paint sometimes, floss will tear up, i use the flat stuff and keep the spool there and keep using new area's...
