Default Cowl cover - ebay

I noticed a listing for a NEW cowl cover on eBay today. No affiliation, just thought some one on Rennlist might be interested in one. Has a Buy it Now price of $50, with free shipping.

Amazing how many flimsy plastic parts we suffer with on our cars. I guess I'm glad they spent the money on aluminum and double-galvanized bodies, high quality paint, etc. but it sure gets annoying worrying about busting these crappy plastic things every time you touch one ...

Earliest versions 78-82 are missing about one 3rd of the later covers due to the early wiper motor/mechanisum sticking up to far and hitting the full covers.

The Late model version Gary linked to is a one size fits all...with the use of a razor blade.

For 928s with Cowl area Intensive Washer systems, cut out the small square area clearly seen.

ALL 83-86 and later 928s without the cowl area intensive wiper install as is.

For early 78-82 928s use you old one as a template and cut off about one third of it on the drivers side..or call one of your buddies with one and ask for the measurement,.. or call your fav vendor that should know this info. IIRC, one of the "ribs" is a guide that you follow for a nice clean factory look cut.

FYI, if you try to order an "early" cowl cover it will automatically supercede from 928.574.553.04 to 05 to 06 to the late cover discussed here 928.574.157.00, as I said a "universal cover" for all years..just add sharp blade.

Yup, until that reading, I thought my 80 was missing a piece of that cowl. Thanks DR.

The earliest versions weren't as flimsy as the later ones. The cover on my 78 is quite stout compared to the thickness of the later ones. Less apt to break too, I think. Still, be careful as DR says, you can't get these early ones anymore.

Also good to get the little metal clips which hold it in place along the rear edge....they often go missing or get bent open.
