Default machine work on case

can anyone recommend a well known, reputable, etc... machine shop to send a '77 911s case and heads to? where I am located, none of the engine/machine shops are willing to try to do any work to these peices. have heard many negatives about motor meister, so that one is off the table, but any recommendations would be appreciated.
thanks in advance
steve

Hi Steve:
I took my engine to Ollie's in Santa Ana. They're Porsche specialists and are well thought of in the So. Calif. area with many years of experience. I think the guy doing the heads has been doing it for something like 20 years. I'm well satisfied and I know a lot of other guys are too. They don't have a web site.
Ollie's 510 Terminal st. Santa Ana California 92701 714-558-7334 You can find their ad in Excellence Magazine. Good luck

I used EBS racing for all my machine work on my 74 2.7 except heads which I had done locally. Jon is great to deal with and I am very happy witht the results.

They are in Reno NV.

Where are you located? I think Uncle Zak is one of the kings of the 2.7. He sells rebuilt motors on ebay and I have heard of many that are very pleased with his work. He has a website somewhere - I'd google him.

Now if I had a 2.7 with a mag case, I might be inclined to try and find a lower mileage 3.0 or 3.2 to swap out. Easy switch - more HP - potentially much less money.

I second Ollie's. I used EBS for a complete valve job, and 3 weeks turned into 7 weeks.

Ollie's is VERY VERY good but be prepared to wait.

They always have a huge backlog and they treat each and every project the same way.

Competition Engineering also has a good rep, but as with others, very slow I hear.

Good things come to those who wait... Don't rush get it done right.

I know Steve from Rennsport seconded a nomination at Ollies but I think he does case work as well. Am I right Steve? Ask around you find that Steve comes highly recommended as well.

I would recommend Performance Developments 949 646 7461. They will turn around your heads in 2 days. The work done is first class, very high quality. It is probably the highest quality out there. Be prepared to pay more, but the level and amount of work done is way higher. They will not just do a production, this is good enough job, but the very highest precision work you can get. You also get a full spec sheet telling you everything done and sizes etc. They make sure EVERYTHING is checked, measured, same etc.

Any opinioins on Memphis Motorwerks? I saw the guys give a presentation at DixieTech a few years ago and was impressed. I was considering using them for some future headwork, etc. Anyone used them recently?

Memphis Motorwerks was used by my airhead BMW buddy while he lived in the south. He was very pleased with the company. He had sent things in and done business over the phone. He also shopped with them for ca, pistons and cylinders, IIRC. Only two BMW airheads though.

And on a separate note. I hear a lot about EBS doing machine work. I thought they were an engine building supply retailer. Can anyone confirm that they actually do any of the work themselves? I always thought that they outsourced it?

Hi Tim:

Yessir, we do indeed do case modifications as well as all kinds of head work.
