Default Shifter bushings and coupler replacement

my 86 930 (4 speed) is occasionally a little balky going from neutral to 1st. All other movements no problem up or down. No grinding, just seems like a shifter problem.

So what bushings do I need to buy? And should I buy a new coupler instead of pressing new bushings into the old coupler? Also, new coupler prices are all over the map, from $70 to $200 for oem types, plus there are some fancy billet ones. Any thoughts here?

thanks

Many jobbers sell a bushing kit that includes all of the necessary linkage bushings. Pressing new bushings into an old coupler would be ridiculous. I've used both WEVO billet and Stomski replacement couplers in different cars; both are terrific.

So today I removed the sloppy worn out plastic bushings in the coupler and replaced them with brass bushings from Pelican. No slop, improved shifting. Easy job, takes maybe an hour. I used a vise for pressing, but I think a little arbor press like the HF one would be handy.

Your shifter coupling can cause grinding if it needs to be adjusted

Deff mark it. Right and left and depth

Default WEVO

The WEVO coupling is well worth it. Stomski is good too. I replaced mine about 9 years ago and it has been perfect for all this time.
