Classic 911 and valet parking?
What does everyone do with their 911's when it comes to valet parking? Do you just hand them over?
I've got a 70' with a dogleg transmission that's just been rebuilt. Not too keen to part with it.
Will valet attendants be offended if I'd like to park it myself (at fancy/upscale places)?

Tip well and ask if you can park it up front. Or take the cayenne like i do.

I would never let a random bozo drive a '70 911. Tipping well for special privileges sounds like a good plan.

I don't know how "widespread" it has become, but a Dallas company I believe, started an app called, "Park Up Front." It allows a user to pay in advance to reserve a prime valet parking spot at a participating restaurant. Similar cost to "giving a big tip." The app has an approved car list and if one's car isn't on the list, you can submit the car to be included.

I took my son to the Omni for Werks Reunion which only had valet parking. The RSR is a bit finiky to cold start so I just tipped well and asked to park it myself. I won't even Valet my E39 M5 let alone my 73 RSR.

It depends, like almost everything in life. I did allow someone to valet my 87 at the Ritz Carlton, I drove there with my friend who drove his 308. Valet was a nice young man, I let him drive it about 50 feet to put in front with my friends Ferrari. My car is nice, but it does have 90,000 miles, so it i.s not a garage queen, unlike my friends 308
It is just a car, not likely that anything was going to happen to it going those few feet. Besides, I let my 17 year old use it for prom, so color me too trusting.
An RSR - no way.

I always tip a $20 and ask to self park. Has worked everywhere - except one place. I live on a Golf course and belong to the country club which is located less than 1/4 mile from my house. Drove one of the McLarens there for dinner, valet refused the tip and said he MUST drive. I told him to kick rocks and went and parked in the parking lot. Screw the test pilots, they aren't driving my cars.

I never ever ever turn my keys over to a Valet.
Never.
Well, last summer we attended a friends 80th birthday bash at his very nice Bellaire Estate. A food friend and car guy so I figured I'd get to park in the barn (very large home and land too). I pull up and he surprises me with a team of Valet parking. I tell the wifey no way I am giving the keys over to these group. She was embarrassed so gave in.
Come to find out our host had arranged for the valet service to drive down the hill to a public lot to park our cars.
I get home and put the car back on the lift.
That is when I noticed the front lip broken/cracked and the bottom scratched up. Apparently hit a dip coming in or out a driveway.
Forty years of no valet parking for (930s, 911S etc...) and first time I give in this is the result.
Should have drove the SUV!
