Is PPF on a 911 really a worth it? Will it yellow over time?

Yes, of course it is worth it. It is the cheapest (and only) insurance you can buy against rock chips, paint scuffs, parking lot door dings, and other minor but potentially costly mishaps. And no, I have never had PPF brown or yellow over time (10 years is the longest I've had it on any given car).

Our BMW 3 series has had it on since late 2006 and looks fine. Albeit the car is garage kept but has seen its share of sun exposure. My 993 C4S has Suntek on it. Would go with either Suntek or Xpel depending.

I've 6 Porsches at the moment, 2 have clear wraps on them. The ones w/o original paint, I don't care. I'll just paint again or touch it up. Wrapping the front end of a car is 2-3k, and a quality touch up on a hood is a lot less than that. Those with original paint, its nice to preserve it.

Also, when these wraps get old they get to become a massive pain to remove. They will pull up clear coat on repaints too. Because of that, you don't want to keep them on forever or they are impossible to get off w/o serious effort, even using steam.

On the 2 cars that have wrap, one has Suntek installed 6 years ago, the other has XPel ultimate installed about 4 years ago. Both on silver cars. Both you can absolutely see fading in the bra next to the paint, the bra has a brown cast on it that it did not have when the wraps were new. Both are due to be replaced as if they go much longer they become very difficult to remove. For now the plastic is still pliable.

You may not see that on red, black, blue cars. But on white, silver, possibly some other brighter colors you'll 100% see the color change in the wrap over time, they do not remain optically clear.

I'll see if I can get it to show in a picture later.

In the past year and a half I've had ClearMask put on my TurboS and my '69, both by the same shop. The TurboS cost only $700, as there is a standard PPF 'kit' for it. There is no PPF 'kit' for a '69 911, so it was a hand-done, finicky, custom job. Full hood, full front bumpers, full pan under front bumper, front quarter-panels to halfway back. Hand cut and pieced around bumperettes and end-caps so it's all invisible. Headlight rings removed so edges fit underneath to be invisible. All edges wrapped fully around so they are invisible (and frankly are hard to detect). A truly amazing job. The negotiated price was $1500, which is very cheap insurance for a $10,000 paint job.

I wrapped the front end and and high impact areas of my ST build which sees the track and lots of back country canyon drives. After 3+ years I have virtually no stone chips or other flaws. The PPF provides “peace of mind driving” in my book, so to me its worth the $2K.

I just had Xpel applied to the front of my '71 914-6 that just completed a rotisserie restoration. Wrapped the entire hood, front fenders, headlights, foglight, headlight covers and eye brows, also did a door edge strip and the inner fender well edge on all 4 wheels as that gets pretty rock chipped normally. It came out great. I have had PPF on all of my cars since 2005. I would have a hard time driving this on the CA roads and freeways w/o the PPF providing a good level of protection. My '16 Audi S3 still looks like new after 63K miles. And yes, they did the install in my garage.
