Default Is this too far gone? First Porsche experience. HELP!

I'm looking to get into the game. Start with something less than perfect. Something to enjoy and not hold to precious. Something to drive and tinker with. Slowly restore and get to know the 911. The only thing I really know is that I love the silhouette and legacy of Porsche... I also know I don't want a huge money pit. Just a small money pit.
Would this one bend me over backwards? Or do you see potential?

A moderate money pit if the engine and transmission is perfect. A major money pit if not. And, of course, folks' definitions of 'moderate' and 'major' differ. This purveyor does not have the very best reputation. I would continue the search and get a bit more education before taking the plunge.

There is a TON of weld repair required on that body. It will be way more than you probably think. That car will have to be completely stripped to the bare tub, and put on a rotisserie and then worked on by someone with good skills at welding and fabricating and fitting patch panels.

If the body is neglected, you can guarantee everything else is.

A good rule of thumb is that if you can't afford to buy a new one, you probably shouldn't buy an old one!

Forget this car. It's way too far gone. It will require huge amounts of money and specialzed skills. Move on, keep searching.
