Default Carrera Badging

Do all carreras have the "Carrera" badging on the engine lid? My 1988 targa does not have it but it is the 3.2. The previous owner said '88s did not have the badging...that does not seem right to me.

Is it a commemorative edition? From a comment on: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...rera-targa-14/
All CEs were shipped “without rear model designation”. As we know, this limited edition was to Commemorate the first 911 ever produced. The first 911s produced did not have model designation badging. I am a purist and I pray no knucklehead will mistakenly “replace” the Carrera Badge. I am the second owner of a pristine CE Coupe I have had for about 15 years that is in my small collection but by far my favorite to drive...

Stick on badge. Previous owner might have taken it off,

Thank you both. I looked up commemorative and they were all a diamond blue paint and mine is guards red. My car has been repainted so I think I'll replace the badge. This leads to two other questions: can anyone point me to a place to get this badge and can someone get me the specs (size of badge, and location on the engine lid)? Thx.

Here are the dimensions on mine, but probably best to confirm with another...total length just under 10 5/8". The lower case script fits within 7/8"; the "C" is 1.5 inches in height.

No I didn't call the dealer, I suppose I should get to know them. Thanks for the good thought.

It was a factory option to delete the badge. It's option code 498. See if your build has it.

Thanks David. Mine was not deleted so I guess it just wasn't replaced after repaint. A new badge is on its way to me!

Thanks all for the help. I got the badge and put it on today. The back of the car looks so much better!
