Its pretty cheap compared to other porsches i have seen on the market. About usd63k. Cheaper than tiptronic 993, and maybe half price of a manual 964/993

No, and hell no.

Find another car for $40k - where are you - what country?

Malaysia. There are virtually no cars for sale on the market.

To put it into perspective. A 1995 993 c2 is around usd87,500 here. This 1998 3.2 carrera is priced similar to a 2001 996 turbo... Around usd65k

The fact that you are in Malaysia takes you out of the market most of us are familiar with. Your market defines both the pool of cars available to you and the prices of those cars. To shop in the worldwide market and then have to buy a car sight-unseen (given Covid lockdown) and then ship the car to Malaysia adds uncertainty and cost factors most of us aren't familiar with (I am). Again, if you like the car and the equation works for you, virtually none of us here is in a position to second-guess you.

Personally I never liked the Turbo tail on a regular Carrera. I love the whale tails and sold my mint Carrera Can 20 years ago just because I found a coupe with a whale tail. That car really looks nice otherwise.

as per above, no one here knows that market AFAIK

but is there a way for you to get some historical info to help you estimate the likelihood of a more suitable car showing up in 1, or 2, years?

if not, it's a question of taking a vacation (to Australia??) looking for a car and shipping it back vs. modifying or living with this car

I bet none of us knows the labor rates there either - maybe a quality job of returning the car to where you want it is lower than in the US, Europe or Japan?
