1986 Targa purchase
so I have an opportunity to purchase a rust free 1986 930 Targa in Moss Green / Black interior with 66,000 miles , the car has had a reseal about 20 years ago with 48,000 miles and a clutch done at the same time as well plus the regular oil change and service for its entire life. The car is accident free but has gone thru partial repainting work, I am wondering what is a fair market value for this car? Any feedback is welcome.

That looks like a beautiful 911 Carrera. A 930 is a 911 turbo from that vintage. 66K miles is fairly low. A quality respray probably wouldn't deduct too much from its value. 3.2 Carreras ('84-'89) are desirable, though the later cars from '87 -'89 (G50 gearbox) slightly more so than the earlier ones (with the 915 boxes). That's an unusual color (usually good). But coupes are usually more desirable than cabs or targas. A reseal performed 20 years ago is only worthwhile if it's not leaking now. A clutch done at the same time is only worth it if it's not slipping now. (I bought a car with the clutch done 25K miles earlier, but it was already slipping under WOT.) I agree with the above comment that a fair price is whatever you're willing to pay for the car. Ballpark market value might be around $50K, give or take? But the last time I purchased a car was about 2 years ago, so I may be way behind the times.

Thank you gentlemen, yeah typo correction on the 930 description, it is 3.2; in the back of my mind I have always subconsciously wanted a 930 turbo.

Condition - Condition - Condition -
It means everything.
The market now is probably the most irrational that it's ever been for used 911's.
Color is a plus for this Targa. If there are no issues discovered in a proper PPI, and there is a solid documented maintenance and repair history for the car - obviously big factors in driving the value of it up.
If the mileage is accurate (often it's not) - as determined through condition as well as cross-referencing through maintenance documentation, I think the car would be listed for retail sale through a dealer in the $65k to $70k range. (Driven by market exuberance.)
Hope it works out! Looks like a nice car from the photo.

PS: IMO the Targa is the best of both worlds.....
