Default Trying to identify bolt

I have a new to me 75 Carrera and there is a nut/stud on the drivers side towards rear of the engine that has oil leaking from it. I have not been able to identify what the bolt is for in the manual and do not want to just start tightening it.

Can anyone tell me what the torque on this nut should be? Even better what this stud does.

Thanks
Tom

Don’t touch it :-)

it’s a case stud. I think it’s the one referred to here:

https://forums.pelicanparts.com/pors...-oil-leak.html

if you decide to put a wrench on it use an open ended combo so you can see if the stud is turning in the case.

As a temp fix you can clean the oil off with solvent of your choice and apply a coat of DrieBond to encapsulated the nut/washer and onto the case One of the best properties of DreiBond is that it will cure when in contact with oil.

Thank you. I did successfully stop the leak with a bit of right stuff sealant under the nut and snugged up.

As a follow up to this thread, I was concerned about loosing the clamping force from this bolt on the intermediate shaft so I implemented a repair that should allow the clamping force lost by the pulled stud. An experienced Porsche machinist recommended drilling all the way thru the case half and using a bolt to clamp the case at the location until next rebuild is needed and then plug case half and timesert for stud repair.

I used a 160mm torx head bolt and needed to grind two sides for clearance on case. Used right stuff sealant on the side of case and use aluminum washer and nut as per stock on the other torqued to spec.
