thanks. the other piece looked like a plastic piece also and was worried I was missing a part since I saw it included in this kit

https://www.suncoastparts.com/product/SKUG50.html

getting to the point where all these plastic pieces are starting to crumble. steering wheel bushing replaced, gas pedal bushing replaced (got stuck on the highway!)....

Since you are going to have the shifter apart anyway I would definitely order the shifter spring from Stella Auto . .only $50!

same as the 915.. the setup is different , but same 2 parts are what is most commonly changed. im nor sure if the 915 and G50 share the same part number.. future people reading this thread be careful ,, as the thread was a bit hijacked from a 4 speed , to a G-50 . so make sure you are looking at the right diagram for your car.

I believe the 930 and 915 shared the same shifter but different ratios. The two top gears (3rd & 4th) in the 930 were overdrive. The 930 transmission was also 6lbs lighter than the 915. There's also a difference between the earlier ones up to 86 and the 87 and newer but I don't know what it is. I've just seen several part numbers that stop at 1986, apparently not good for 87 forward.

My last post was not referring to you Iceman. I was just pointing out the differences in the 915/930 trans. I've appreciated all your comments above. You're correct in your assessment that the thread was hijacked but it wasn't a bad hijack anyway. It at least showed the differences in the shifters to anyone who was already familiar with the 915/930 shifter.
