Default 1986 911 Transmission Synchro Repair/Replace

It appears the synchros in my 911 are starting to go. It's really difficult to shift into first gear. What are my options in terms of replacement/repair. Also, what am I looking at in terms of cost?? Thanks for the input!

i did my first and second gear for about 1K in parts ... but that was 5 years ago or so ...

if you take it to a shop it will get pricey for sure.

Not sure how much but im thinking at least 5K

If you send it to someone like bill rader, his flat labor rate is about $1400 (maybe up, my last time was about a year ago). You have to add in pulling the trans on top. The parts will probably be 1-2k but that depends what it needs. when he opens a transmissions he replaces what it needs and send you the worn out crap. assuming the gear stack is ok, syncros and bearings and some shims might run you a couple k.
So a figure of a round 5-7k is probably realistic.
