Default things to check over on a 911 before a long road trip?

Ok being a 944 guy I am new to 911s In this case an 86 Carrera. Before the car goes on say a 1500 mile trip what if anything needs to be checked before departure? The oil was just changed so that check is in the box. Tires are good... washer fluid... Scratching my head and I can't think of much else. Anyone help me out here?

A spare DME relay comes to mind. Spare throttle cable and clutch cable wouldn't hurt, either. Check brake pads, brake fluid age/level. How long has it been since you put new Swepco in the transaxle? How old are the CV joints?

I always carry an extra tool box on longer trips with some DIY stuff.
1. Tire repair tool (T handle with sealing strips)
2. Wire strippers and splices,connectors
3. Healthy flashlight
4. Electrical tape
5. 12 volt air compressor
6. 2 quarts of oil
7. rags
8. extra fuses
9. spare fan belt
10........drum roll please..........Duct tape (Ya never know)

A spare DME relay hummmmm had not thought of that one. As for the Swepco that just went in about three weeks ago. Age on the CV joints? Good question have to check into that. Ah yes the spare holding air a fine time to find out it doesn't will be half way to Albuquerque ... in the rain… at night… just after the flashlight dies…

I just thought of something, If one does say have a flat in a 911 and one uses the spare is there room enough in the front to throw a tire and rim in? Or is it going in the back seat?

Ya thats the way it usually goes......
I just go back from a 800 mi r/t in 2 days and the only thing I used was a paper clip to open up the hole on my winshield washer squirter (sp). But...I am prepaired for the worst. You really should carry what I mentioned though, it will save you from being stranded (out of cell) and you could also rescue someone else. (thats what usually happens to me)
