This quote from a classifieds post .......what is this...and does anyone know of pics?

There might be one to aid aerodynamics when the car is at high speed but to be honest it is just nice and smooth on the underbody as there is nothing there

The CTR's had a rubber strip running across the bottom just forward of the jack point (if I remember correctly). Alois said that it aided in cleaning up the air flow for the fender mounted intercoolers.

Imight have a pic somewhre in here. I'll try to find it.

FYI, its made of rubber (like a rubber lip) and its 2.5-3" deep.

Yes and it also stops the spoiler from getting nasty scrapes.

You may be referring to the black bottom part of the RUF valance, shown here on a stock 911SC bumper. I understand that RUF no longer makes these, which is a shame, as they were made of polyurethane, and stood up to craggy roads and cement parking blocks, without shattering like fiberglass. Note the whole valance is made of PU, I chose to paint the lower spoiler portion black.

Ruf also used a separate rubber piece that bolted to the bottom of their f/g bumper cap


but I think he was asking about a spoiler that was attached transversly to the pan just ahead of the rear wheels

The lip is part of the spoiler. The CTR price from RUF for this bumper is tooooooo much $$$$. Buy one from BetterBodies and add the lip with piece of rubber. It's doable. Besides the CTR bumper is made of fiberglass and that lip will break. Its not flexible PU like the front valance.

May have been a prehistoric thread, but some more pics might be helpful for anyone wanting to recreate this for their car. Looks easy to replicate, and might help in the aero department.

Later ctr models moved the intercooler inlet. I would think it would be beneficial to clean up airflow around the rear wheels.

Howdy Rus...been thinking about you and hope all is well. Those early inlets are in a notoriously low pressure area and not terribly effective. Lots of body 'kits' over the years placed vents here for cosmetic reasons, but they're not functional. Further forward/lower is the place to be as this is where the factory placed so many ducts. It seems like a no brainer that some scooping in front of the rear wheel from underneath could be helpful. You may know that Boxsters have a neat little scoop right there for the same reason.
