Default My "new" 1980 911SC

Hello, I am new new owner of a 1980 911SC. I am so excited! It is in great shape with 121,000 original miles, sport seats, brown leather interior, cashmere beige. Finally a car I don't have to restore. My husband and I had a 1970 911T that ended up beinf way more of a project than we bargined for, so off to E-Bay it went and the search bagan a gain (the fun part). I started going towards the SC's when all the early cars we could find had rust issues. I am very happy with my choice.

Julia,
Congratulations on your new car! Skippy has been floating around for a little while and everyone who has seen the car has said it is beautiful. How about some gratuitous pictures!

That's a good looking car, and at what it was priced at, it seemed like a nice deal.

Are you sure that all of the 121,000 miles are original, though? I hate those aftermarket miles!

So Skippy has been around this block?? I didn't know. Yes, they are original miles! I'm being funny. I saw that somewhere, it does sound kind of silly. How about 121,000 happy miles!? Skippy came with all the records a Porschephile could want and was well cared for and will continue to be well cared for. I put some Dr. Jackson's Leather conditioner on the interior today and the seats just soaked it up. Those seats are like sinking into a nice comphy chair.

I tired to download a picture but it didn't work. I have them saved in "My Documents" and clicked on the "browse" and clicked on the picture and it appeared to upload it, but no attachment. Have any ideas???

Not necessarily around the block. But advertised for quite a while, starting at a much higher price.

The initial ad prices were too high, but it came down to where I thought someone would scoop the car up. It looks like a good car. Also, while it advertised for a long time, it didn't seem like it was advertised in the right places for most of that time.

The color is a bit unique for a Porsche. I like just about any unique colors, though, including Skippy's color. If I were in the market for an SC, I would have given that car a look.

Not sure about the picture posting. I'll try to post a pic and see what happens.

Oh, that Skippy. You're the local that bought it? Congratulations!

The car has been for sale over on the Pelican boards for a while - here's the thread: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...0&pagenumber=1

And here's a picture from it:

Congrats on your new old car. I too watched that car as it hit the 'great value' price range. It looks & sounds like you got a winner.

Drive it & enjoy.

Julia,

Congratulations on your purchase! If you haven't already, you might want to read the 911SC FAQ on tech.rennlist.com.

Yes, I couldn't be more happy with Skippy. He is everything Roland said he was. Thanks for that link! I looked at four cars that weekend, Skippy being the first (Friday) and had seen a Ruby Red Metallic one on E-Bay that didn't sell. It was in Marina Del Rey, CA and I told my husband I had to see it to make a decision even though I felt Skippy was the right car. We drove from Sacramento to MDR on Sunday night so we could look at the car Monday morning. It was pretty but had a few flaws not mentioned in the ad (personal preferences, not a bad seller), and it just lacked "personality" and the cared-for-ness that Skippy had. That can not be replaced with a snazzy color. Skippy grew on me. As soon as we left that lot, I said, "Call Roland right now, I want that car". We did and made the deal and all are happy. Roland has been a pleasure to deal with and Skippy has found a good home.

Wow, great storry! Good luck.

I found my car "Max", an '81 SC Targa a little over a year ago here in the Bay Area. It lacked a bit on the TLC that Skippy seams to be bathed in, but I'm making up for it!

I'll look for you on the road and maybe Max and Skippy can wink at each other!

Spiffing is half the fun, the other half is driving! We found this awsome protectant for vinyl and leather. It's called 303, maybe you've heard of it. It's like an SPF 40 for your car. My husband found out about it on 968.net. We are a two Porsche family...oh and an "All Purpose" Honda CRV to put the daughter and dogs in!

Great looking car! You might also want to check out the leatherique products for leather. It's amazing stuff. Go to www.leatherique.com

Congrats, that's a very nice car you have there. Great color too, I've been eyeing it on Pelican for a while. If only I had the cash........

I had a '70 911T too. Turned out to have oodles of rust. I loved that car but "Nemo" went over the big sea back to Germany to a man that has gotten rid of the rusted parts and put him back together again. He will return him to the original Signal Orange too. He is going to send us pictures when it is complete. We took more pictures today, but for some reason I can't get them posted.
