I can't speak for them, but 6speedonline.com members from this post:

Highly recommend Pete's book and also the Adrian S books:

I haven't been able to find those outside of Pelican Parts, and haven't bitten down on them yet... plan on doing that after I sell the Cayman.

Once you have the vin, engine number. transmission number, how can you check that they "match."

Bought your book last fall. Read through it twice. I'm currently looking for an 87-89 carrera. I keep it by me as I search. Looks like the 930s have been going up in price slightly. Thanks for demystifying the car for me. Looking forward to the ownership experience.

Andy, is it safe to say that the 87-89 Carerra is the "Holy Grail" of entry level Porsches?
Best bang for the buck, and has the G50, etc.

Check out VOSSTEK`S 930 Super Turbo Ultra Wide Body kit its a Rauh Welt look alike, it is made of the same material and is just as wide. It is very affordable ($20.000.00 less than RWB), it looks AWESOME!!! They have 3 style of front bumpers (C 2/4 look, RS and RSR), 2 style rockers (C 2/4 look and RSR), 2 style rear bumpers (RSR and C 2/4 style). They also have 12 different style wings here are 2 links: https://www.facebook.com/BetterBodiesUSA

This is what can lurk under! Who ever (I was going to say restored but not quite appropriate) butchered this 1973 911 didn't even have the decency of welding in the crappy patches....someone paid somebody for this work too!!

The point is a minimal investment in a great book can save thousands of dollars! If you're in the market do yourself a favor, buy the book and get a proper PPI done please.

Best
Rich

25. If no broken studs/pulled studs are found proceed with a leak down test. (Although some disagree, I feel that a compression check on a 911 is often useless, while a leak down test is invaluable. A knowledgable mechanic can use the leak down test to assess the condition of several important engine components, like valves and rings.)

I just purchased the latest edition of the book on Amazon - well worth it as it contains a wealth of information. It's a great resource for the novice buyer or a "car guy" looking for a deeper dive into the pros/cons of each model and year variance. Highly suggested!
