Wheels and Tires
Having difficulty coming up with a wheel and tire change for my 88 911 Cab. Car still has original tires and wheels. Very low mileage. Can anyone suggest a wheel and tire combo for the car. The car is used mostly for spirited drives in the hill country of TX. and an occasional autocross.

look for 16 x 7 and 16 x 9 fuchs you should be happy. or look into something like the cup replicas or 993 replicas or even the turbo twist replicas. all are good. there are more options like lindsey racing wheels or ccws but i dunno if you really need it

You say you have original wheels and tires....but you fail to mention what original sizes were on your car....if you have 6&7 fuchs....move the 7s to the front and get some 8s for the rear....much cheaper and easier to find than 9s....personally I would stay away from replica wheels as they tend to be quite heavy compared to fuchs and the unsprung weight tends to adversly affect handling...but them I am also not a fan to the offsets of the newer style wheels and the need for spacers....I am an old syle kinda guy....but different strokes for different folks...

I recently bought an 88 coupe. and just swapped my 6s and 7s - moved the 7s forward and put 9s on the rear. I found that the price for 9s and 8s to be about the same. I think Fuchs look the best. Good luck.

I have an 85 Targa and just installed a restored set of Fuchs--16X7 ,205/55 and 16X8, 225/50. I had the car lowered to euro ride height so the top of the front fender lip is about 25.5" from the ground. I had the front suspension alligned with about 1.5 degrees of negative camber and still had to roll the fender lips to ensure the tires would not rub. It was an expensive exercise but it looks really mean now. The S03s, allignment and negative camber have made marked difference in the way the car feels. Good luck with yours!

Like the others have said and as the t-shirt says, get Fuch'ed.
7f/8 or 9 rear Fuchs look the best and is easily doable from an availability angle (matt black centres/unpolished outer rims or to taste).
Next to that, Cups 1's but in this newly styled retro age, they might be considered Bling nowadays.
Anything more 'modern' than Cup 1's look incongruous.
Tele-dials are making a come back apparently....don't know where though (in jest!).

one option-
i have my fuchs- and, i have these on right now- 255's out back, 215 in front- 17" twists- im running bridgestone potenzas- kinda expensive but i like them- a lot of guys are finding the kumho ecstas to be really good and they are considerably cheaper/ better priced . . .

You are off to a good start with your 88 cab. Who does your work and where are
you in the Hill Country ? Are you a member of the Austin PCA ?
www.hcrpca.org You are getting some good advice here, I have 7's and 9's with cup rims
running 215/45/17 and 255/45/17. Go to www.tirerack.com and they will give you
the choices for your car. I think the stock size is 205 front and 225 rear but I could be
wrong, you do have 16's right ? I have an 88 and it is in Austin at my mechanics
for some work right now, that is it in my avaitar.
