993s are ugly
There. I said it.
Anyone else think they look like a startled rabbit?
I get the GT2, and the rear end is the best rear end of the 911s. But it's like having Heidi Klums body and Oprah Winfrey's face. The whole front end is an ugly design disaster. Panels all over the show and a design that's dated poorly.
I think the 964 gets a real hard time but it bridges the modern and old 911s beautfully. They never should have dropped the raised lights and Ferry Porsche himself moaned at the change.
I have a 3.2 myself and though the bellows are a bit clumsy it's the shape EVERYONE thinks of when you say 911.
My two cents - flame away.

Nah they just chuck the helmet at a car that is coming at them at 100+ mph . I must say though I wholeheartedly disagree with this statement. I think the 993 style for me is my favourite, the 996 ... well... not so much with the all in one light arrangement which I think was done for ease of manufacturing rather than style , but too rounded and homginous for me. Don't get me wrong i would take on in a second if someone gave it to me .. but I would sell it and get a 993.
On a somewhat related note I was at a car place this weekend and he was selling a 993 for the same price as 996 , he said the 993s are still very desireable and hard to get because people are not parting with them.
But I must qualify my statements, for example I liked 99-2000 style A4 with the more " angular" look to the trunk than the next generation A4 which looked too rounded. Just my personal taste...
PS anyone else think the 997 has hints of the 993 in it ? maybe Porsche liked it too !

In my humble opinion there's no such thing as an ugly 911...as far as "EVERYONE thinks of when you say 911."... I'd think about Le Mans and Steve McQueen riding through the French countryside with his 1971 slate gray 911T...different guys, different strokes...
Why don't you post some pics of your 3.2 instead of flaming away BS ???

I agree that there are no ugly 911's! I have a 3.2 as well and I think it is the classic 911. However, if I had to pick one 911 and price didn't matter. I would pick the 993! It has everthing I like about the 911 from the right look, sound and performance. Just my $.02.

You're certainly entitled to your opinion - even if it is wrong.
The 993 is a beautiful car. Kept the same beautiful smile and sleeked the popeyes back a little. And the purr is heartwarming. Lovely.

OK, I'll throw my worthless two penny's into this even more worthless thread.
I drive a 76 Targa with Carerra bodywork and a 3.2, and while the shape of my car still makes me smile, I think the 993 is the most beautiful 911 since the 2.7RS.
All that being said, I'm going to turn mine into a 3.0 RSR hotrod. When I'm done I hope the thread starter finds it just as ugly as the 993.

While I have to admit that I think the 993 is a great looking car, and really brought some teutonic crispness to the lines that were lost with the heavy bumper Carrera 2 and 4s, the thing I'd like to point out is just how many of the 928 design cues have made their way into the 911s - for good or bad.

i sorta like how the 928 looks...but what do i know; i have a 993 (the ugliest car porsche ever made according to this thread's author).
how can you not like the 993: https://rennlist.com/forums/993-forum/304892-just-want-to-share-some-pics-of-my-car.html
that'd be the biggest, baddest rabbit i ever saw...
