SOLD! 1988 911 Carrera Targa, Fuchs, Whale Tail
Well, it's a sad day for me, and my car is gone . There is a silver lining, however, and that is this: the car is going to a Rennlister.
My car started every time, never left me stranded, got good gas mileage (only when I wanted to get good mileage), was comfortable, held plenty of storage on trips to the market, was great for longer camping trips, and always looked exotic and "totally 80's!"
I will miss it. But I will have to get another one someday in the near future. Maybe an '02 996 with x51 is waiting for me down the road?

you still have to help us out now and then.
now.....if you are in Tokyo and the car sold, should Fousto go to, say Hong Kong to get his to sell? Is you being gone why it sold?

No, the buyer was conversing with me prior to my Tokyo trip. My fiancee was able to assist in closing the deal. I had all the documentation, title, etc. ready.
My fiancee actually shed a tear and "pet the steering wheel" to say goodbye to it. I think she really liked the car. She keeps telling me that "I will never prevent you from getting another Porsche if you want to in the future." I know that already, since it was my decision to let this one go, but she's a good girl for saying the right thing...I'll never prevent her from buying a $500 purse if that's what she wanted to do. Again.

I'd rather experience the pleasure than have to dream about it any day. Hopefully you've built some great memories of your 911 and can recall them in great detail whenever you want. But it's still not the same as sitting in the 911 and having that rush of all your senses feeding you input, feeling the oneness between you and the Porsche.
But you're right, it's not the same, and at the end of the day, you gotta bang someone and life's too short for her to be ugly. So with that, I'll dream again and come home with another Porsche in a few years, maybe sooner.
If my business takes off, I will need a 2nd car, you know. Nothing like writing off maintenance and repairs off your taxes.

Glad to hear it....You made the right decision. Im talking about selling the car and obviously the right woman....she shed a tear for you not the car....my wife knows cars mean alot to me and at first was upset I got the car but now understands why...good luck with the wedding and marriage and occasionally take a peek at the cars for sale in the pelican and rennlist classifieds....and youll have another soon enough. -chris

Murphy, now let's assume your girl gives you the check for the 911...that alone is a long shot. now can you squeeze out a down payment on an M3? (after flowers, cake, reception, honeymoon, and so on) sorry, kids again....just be glad you are not my gardener today. bastards touched my palm trees. even the TSA came outside to see what happened.

And we'll still have 333HP from Germany to play with.

that was quick.
we had $500 for cake
we had $500 for rings
we had $500 for the dress
we also had my tux $?, $80.00 for a room for one night and $18.00 for a tank of gas to san diego
so lets say a total of $2,000 cause some family did give us $20's at the reception.
this was 1989 or 1990 I don't remember...
was $2,000 then anywhere near your $40,000 today?
ok, carry the 2 add to 4, the 0,000 and round down for good measure. hmmm
how much did you say? $40,000 holy crap my 15 year old better elope.

Wedding prices have gone way up. Remember when Mexico was "cheap?" Forget it, not anymore. Now, it might still be "affordable," but it never again will be "cheap." Some of this has to do with the US dollar being weak, but also, the wedding market has nearly doubled in 10 years for price.
I wouldn't mind doing what you did, but the woman wants a destination wedding. So that's OK. I the grand scheme of things, we will only do this once.

The thing I remember (second) most about my wedding was sowing the beads on the dress. Every night for a month I stitched elaborate paterns of beads and spangles on the dress. upwards of 10,000 stitched one at a time. No, she didn't look like Elvis when I was done. It was stunning. My grandmother was so proud and her sisters were horrified. When I finally got to see her in it I almost didn't want to take it off of her. That quickly passed. to this day It would be a dress that could not be duplicated without a Mexican woman locked in a sweat shop for two weeks.
