IS CAR TOO LOW
I recently purchased a 1985 911 Targa. It has been lowered. It has 15 inch phone dial wheels. I want to put 16 inch Fuch wheels on it, but I am concerned that they may be too big for as low as the car is sitting. I know I could get lower profile tires, but I think it is too low.
My question: How much trouble and expense is it to have the car raised a little?
I tried to upload a picture (and I will continue to try) but it says my file is too big, which it is not.
Thanks for the help. I am new to the forum.

Changing the wheels isn't the issue--the tire size is.
I have the optional 16s on my '84. 205-55s in the front; 225-50s in the rear. No problem (and I've also been lowered, but without knowing each of our ride heights, that's not saying much).
If you want, check http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html for a comparison of tire size.

try irfanview to resize pics. then we will have a better idea.
Wheel size should not make a difference to how low it is , but maybe how low it looks ?
overall wheel size diameter , or "rolling radius" should be the same.

We have been seeing a bright blue Porsche this summer down in Carlsbad that must belong to a surfer. it's always along the coast and yesterday he parked a fiew cars up from us. It looks like a 911SC but the badge says 911S. I have never seen a car so low to the ground. it was on polished 15's and didn't look to have too low a profile tire. even that low (2 inch off the ground tops) he looked to be free of tire rub on a stock body. great for a surfer and great to look at, but I think the freeway would hurt. did I say low?

It may be a membership issue. I just joined last night, but I did get an email with my membership number. They may not have regestered it yet since its the weekend. I notice I come up as a user instead of a member. Will try again tomorrow.
Thanks for the help.

OLD (15"):
225/60-15 = 25.63" dia.
195/65-15 = 24.98" dia.
NEW (16"):
225/50-16 = 24.86" dia.
205/55-16 = 24.88" dia.
1) your front-tipped rake will disappear some. If you're level now, the rear will be tipped down more after.
2) with a slight reduction in diameter, your whole car will drop some (very little), but with a chin spoiler, every little bit will be noticeable.
On observation, it looks like mine does with the "Euro" height of 25.5" front / 25" rear, from ground to fender. I am using the 16" tire sizes mentioned. I asked for a .5" lift over those heights to help clear driveway entries & potholes, etc. here in New England. Coming out of the shop, the height appears to be the same as going in. I have not taken a height measurement yet though.
