Oh, I know, but think about this. On cars with factory A/C the chin spoiler covers that unsightly protective bar for the front condenser! Your car might not have that, and if you don't that's a plus!

The front chin spoiler on my cars without a tail made it handle very good. I didn't have a car with a tail until I got my 87 and 88 Carrera's. In my opinion, you can keep the chin spoiler, but if you plan to remove the rear tail, just buy a deck lid that looks like what you want. Trying to fill in holes and rework it is not worth the time and effort. Get another one and paint it to match the car. Good luck.

Your tail is commonly known as a "tea tray" and was the tail on the 911 Turbo (930) from 78 (I believe) through 89. It is flat to make room for the intercooler that was added in the first major re-design of the 930. The previous generation (75-77, 76-77 US IIRC) had no intercooler, so the engine decklid had the same shape at the top with the grill as other 911s, and then the tail began under the grill and to the sides of the grill. This tail was the "Whale Tail". It came standard on the 1980 911SC Weissach. I do not know if it was available on other SCs, but would probably be more appropriate on your car. I agree with others that chin spoiler + tail = a better balanced look, but I disagree that your handling will be significantly affected, unless you plan on taking many corners at 100+ mph. Your car will not do a nose plant with a chin spoiler but no tail, and will not go down the highway doing a wheelie with a tail but no spoiler.

It would be my guess that your car came with wheels with satin black (the same color as the rest of your "blackout" trim) spokes and centers, and anodized rims. However, many custom options and colors were available from the factory back in the day. The only way to konw for sure is to get a Kardex and a Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. I am pretty sure they are both available from PCNA.

Thanks for all the help guys, for right now I think I am just going to go for blacking out the fuch's and leaving the tail in place at this time. I would prefer not to have it but due to the age and condition of paint, I don't want too many different shades of red on her and then end up having to get a respray. I would prefer to keep the paint as it is in remotely good condition. The tail is Porsche branded both on the rubber and on the painted part so I assume it is an OEM part although possibly installed later. Thanks again for all the help!

A 3.3 liter Turbo tail would not have been installed as a factory option, but as an original part it certainly has value. 3.2 Carrera tail branding is shown below, your tail is probably the same...
