Default Another SC Question

So after spending the good part of my Veterans Day searching the forums both here and Pelican... I need a little help, is there any easy way to see if an '82 has carrera tensioners in place?

And in the spirit of the day, thanks to all those who have and are serving our country.

Thank you very much for the pic. I take that lead out of the oil line feeds the tensioner.... where on the engine is this? Call me a moron but I can't get my bearings from this photo. Thanks again! - Craig

back of the engine on the right and left side.

If you are looking at the alternator fan, it is to right and left of it down by the lower pulley.

If I'm not mistaken this photo is of the right side. The one on the left side is just under the distributor cap.

You can't miss them.

Or check out the pictures on pages 87 and 101 of the 8th Edition of my book (my signature) available from Amazon.com!

I think you're right. There are a couple of covers--one on each side of the fan--and you'll see a couple of oil lines running into them.

Better yet, if you can upload a picture of your engine--we'll let you know--maybe you can save a few bucks.

Default Carrera Tens

If you have these two oil lines running into the chainbox covers you have carrera tensioners.
