Default 3.2 found in Dubai - your thoughts/help?

Hey Guys - I found this 3.2 (not your average find) whilst looking around the huge used car facility out here in Dubai. From talking to the owner of the shop it is a one owner Japanese Import first registered in 1987. The car has 87000kms and comes across as super clean...sounded beautiful on start up with no obvious leaking/smoke.

The main problem I have is that it looks so friggin cool that I could buy a turkey just because of the way it looks.

Your help and direction is required..

Any help with the VIN would be great too...

Yes, the standard Japanese car is right hand drive. Sorry, I can't give you any specifics, but I love the color! The carrera script seems to work well on it. I would have never guessed that on a 3.2.

Very interesting colour combination. Cars built for import into Japan have the steering wheels on the right hand side, but this car may have been made for North America and then imported into Japan. If that's the case, it's porbably better for you.

If you love the look of the car, then I guess you need to get a PPI done so that you will know what you are getting yourself into. The VIN# may only be useful if it has been registered on some system like carfax which probably does not apply in Japan. The other use may be to find out what market it was originally built for so you caqn try to trace its path. See if the dealer has any records so you can see what has been done and where.

Bottom line is if you love the car, and the PPI is satisfactory, then all of its history only matters if you plan to buy it as an investment.

Wow I really like the color combo..it works well. Like others said, have a ppi performed along with your gut feelings also try to obtain as much information you can on the car.

Beautiful car and I love that interior. So my understanding is that many of these Middle East cars are typically low mileage and well cared for..correct? After all they are owned by guys who are very affluent. What year is that 3.2 and also if you do not mind sharing what is the asking price?

I love that lot with the older W126 \ W107 Benzes too. Coooool and I spy a yellow 993 (ooops thats your car isn't it?).

The Japanese have imported a lot of Porches from the US and Europe in the past because it was a lot cheaper for them to do so. and Porsche only made so many RHD per year. IF that is the case, then it was likely owned by a Japanese business man who took very very good care of it and likely didnt drive it much at all. How it would have made its way to Dubai is a bit odd, but not unheard of. I have customers from Kuwait attending university here who have bought Corvettes etc. and are taking them back home with them.

Based on what I could find from the VIN, it's an 87 ROW vehicle.

I just got this info from someone on another forum...

'Peter Morgan's book confirms that is a H-Series 1987 Japanese build and should have a 930/25 engine type'

I used Tony Corlett's book and, considering the amount of Nyquil i have in me, I was pretty impressed I was able to read at all.

Nice car, btw. I think the colors work well together.

You might remind him that oil isn't $147.00 a barrel anymore.
