I ordered Draco's alignment tool and I used it to get my front suspension back into the ballpark after changing the front bushings. The car now feels very agile, and very responsive to steering. It tracks straight and feels stable.

It is a very easy and very quick tool to use! I made another tool to check camber. I will feel good about driving it to the alignment shop, and they won't spend all sorts of time and (my) money when I have them check everything. When the suspension is miles and miles out of alignment, they always charge more.

I'm wondering how close I got it to spec. I'll find out in a few weeks, after I get to the rear suspension.

so which alignment tool did you get ? the toe one ? and whatdid you make to check camber ?

i would be very interested in how close you got.

I'm still probably going to decrease the amount of toe before I do the rear suspension. I was thinking about it, and I think less toe will show more misalignment in the rear. In other words, if I go 1/32" toe in in the front, then the rear will have to be pretty damned straight for the car to track correctly.

Yes, I got the toe in/ toe out tool. It came in a fairly long box, so I was glad that it was delivered Fed Ex.

I'm going to use it on the rear suspension also. The tool I made to check camber is similar to the one Draco made, but it has rubber caps that press against the wheel. It's made out of aluminum angle, cut to about 17" long, and has multiple holes to be used on 16" and 15" wheels. I use it to do a visual check on toe before putting the wheels back on, to cut down the trial and error. It shows slight negative camber on both wheels currently.

Oh Glad it worked for you too. I am always looking to see if my alignment is going to keep and check the tires every week just to be certain.

Yes, please post your results at the alignment shop, it will be very interesting.

you guys are free to laugh at my GET-toh wheel alignment precision instrument.

I had to try a modification to the dial. Halfway between those hash marks is 1/32". I'm going to screw or glue some lightweight balsa wood blocks on the measuring rod to elevate the tool even with the sidewall about an 1 1/2" off the ground, just below the wheel protector bead. This way I can standardize my measurements front to back. I think I can get pretty close with this tool.

I dunno, I had a few good laughs when I first saw this thing. I'm going to look at the hobby store for some lightweight blocks of wood. I figure 1 1/2" of elevation will put the feeler just under 2 1/2" off the ground, which is perfect for both front and rear tires.
